Funny, I turned off my hot tub a month ago (after recieving a LARGE electric bill) and I got my new electric bill and it went down $100.00.
Thank goodness. I mean, I'm glad I have it and all, but seriously?
The best part about having a hot tub is that one day, when I want to sell my condo, it will help a lot to have that as a bonus. Condominiums aren't very big sellers 'round these parts.
Not that I'm moving anytime soon, but I like to think about these things ahead of time.
P.S.

Has anyone else wondered...
Why a church affiliated school (Duke) has a mascot called the Blue Devils? I thought that was funny as Jared and I sat in Cameron Indoor Stadium last night.
We had a really good time at the Duke vs. Georgia Tech game last night. We got to Durham around 5 and walked around campus for a while. Then Brad came and picked us up and we went to dinner at the Macaroni Grill (my fave Italian!) and it was awesome. Then we went back to the game. It was my first Duke game and I have to say, it's pretty fun. The fan base is really absorbed in "school spirit". They really get into it and I love that. I can see how it would be quite intimidating for the other team. I would be intimidated. The Big House (in Michigan) is more intimidating, but Cameron is more fun.

The Duke basketball games fall below App football games for fun, but above App basketball games. I have a feeling in about 10 years App basketball games will be just as fun. The fan base isn't there right now, but it will be.
Anywho, I'm back to work now and I'm tired. Here are some pics from last night:

I'm very thirsty...
So yesterday I went to the doctor. I've been wanting to see a primary care physician just for a yearly check up. I didn't have one, so I made an appointment with one of the doctor's listed on Blue Cross/Blue Shield's web site.
Since I was a new patient, they told me I'd just be "establishing" yesterday and that I would come back later for my actual physical. Once I was in there and I talked to her, she decided to go ahead and get started with the physical and to go ahead and do bloodwork. She also convinced me to get the HPV vaccination just in case (since BCBS only pays for it until I'm 26 - which is in April!).
So after she checks my reflexes and all that she sits me down in the hall for the nurse to draw blood. I always get really nervous at the thought of having blood drawn. I don't like anything to touch the inside of my wrists and the inside of my elbows is almost as bad.
I'm reminded of the first time I donated blood and I tell the nurse about it. Then she gives me my shot, and moves towards the vials she will be filling with contents from my body. I look away..
She takes the first two vials of blood and I feel nervous.. As she's switching to the third vial I start to get real hot and then I realize I'm dizzy too. So of course, once she finished taking my blood, she had to rush and get me a coke so I didn't pass out.
There's nothing I love more than being at the doctor's office and I'm sweating from EVERY pore and drinking coke just so I don't pass out. I felt too weak to go back to work.
And they told me that I need to come back today for an ultrasound on my gallbladder, which may be why my chest has been hurting me. So I haven't been able to eat or drink anything this morning.. which is why I'm very thirsty.

I hate being a klutz.
I dropped my camera Saturday night and broke it. I wasn't even drinking yet.
Now, it's stuck in "P" mode and none of the buttons work except to turn it on and take pictures. I can't change any settings. I don't know what to do :(. I almost cried yesterday thinking about it. I don't know if it can be fixed or even who to take it to.

Another Nerd Factor: American Idol
Yes, I watch American Idol. Every year I say I'm not going to but every year I do anyways. And I don't even care. Other people watch Survivor, which is pure crap to me, so I'm going to watch American Idol, which is pure crap to other people. I've also got Jared watching it, only don't tell him you know that :).
I wasn't sure who to pull for going into the top 24. I try to always pull for one favorite boy and one favorite girl. For favorite girl right now I'm pulling for Jordan Borgella, the plus size model, because she's cool. Of course after the girls perform tonight I'll make an informed decision. As far as boys go, I was going to pull for David Archuletta.
David Archuletta is a 17 year old kid with an amazing talent. He's basically everyone's favorite, so he doesn't really need my vote. Although, I wouldn't be opposed to adopting him.
Then there's this Australian hottie guy who has a lot of the other votes. Nuff said.
Then there's this guy:
Jason Castro.
Before last night's boy's performances, I'd never actually heard him sing. Last night I saw this guy perform "Daydream" with a guitar and it totally rocked to me. I'd buy his album. Plus, he's kind of cute, even though I don't really like dreads.
The point is, I'm pulling for this kid (he's 20 years old) and last night I voted for him like 100 times. Really.
Go Jason! To see a video clip of his performance or to listen to the mp3, go here.
p.s. DialIdol says he's safe! Good thing I voted 100 times.
Oh, and yes, I think he looks high too.

The Things That Happen in My Dreams.
Last night I had a dream about Heath Ledger. A GOOD dream.
For some reason I was in Australia and I was at this college party type thing of people I didn't know. All of a sudden somebody in the corner started playing guitar and singing and it was beautiful. I went in for a closer look and it was Heath Ledger. Of course all the girls in the room were swooning over him, because he was gorgeous and a celebrity and all. For some reason he picked me and we had a good time.
I was always thought he was super hot, but I wasn't really affected by his death. It came after I was dealing with my friend's death.
Anywho I just thought I'd share.

BOOM!
Things are looking up a bit today. Yesterday, as you know, I stayed out of work again due to the sickness (ass). I was stuffed up, with a runny nose and sneezy, headachey nonsense. Jared told me to expect a "delivery" to come sometime yesterday, so I stayed downstairs and slept/watched tv on the couch all day. By the time Jared got home at 7:15, the "delivery" still hadn't arrived.
Jared is so sweet, he got really upset about it and called the company. Turns out they were just running REALLY late and they were on their way. They brought me these lovely flowers at 8:30:
Along with a box of chocolates. This made me very happy, since I've always had bad luck on Valentines Day. This is the first time a boy has ever sent me flowers on V-day. It was so sweet and Jared was very happy to see me happy.
So then we mustered up the strength and went to Carraba's for a yummy dinner. We got home at 10:00 and passed out. It was nice.
Today I still feel sick, but I'm back at work, with lots of stuff to do. I just checked my bank account and I got my Federal Tax Refund! Woo! So tonight, Jared and I are going to sit down and pick out airline tickets for our trip to Vegas. Yippee!
Now I'm excited.

How are you spending your V-day?

explosion!
Today I feel:
-Like I may be coming down with something.. we'll call it .. Ass. I feel like ass.
Why? Probably because yesterday I called in sick for a headache. I did have a headache, and it sucked.. but I probably still could have sat at my office. On Tuesdays I'm supposed to be outside GPSn, but I couldn't fathom doing that with my head esploding (yes, I spelled it that way on purpose). Anywho apparently I should have just sucked it up and worked because now I can tell that I'm going to be actually sick and I don't want to use another sick day this week.
-Very Poor. I need to stop going out on weekends and save up for Vegas. It occured to me last night that I only have about $20.00 of spending money (that doesn't include savings) to get me through until Friday when I get paid. Normally this would be fine, since that's only 2 days away. But lucky for me, tomorrow is Valentines Day. Lucky of luckyness, Jared and I are both off tomorrow night and I will spend my first Valentines Day ever with a boyfriend (last year we both had to work all day so it didn't count). We are planning on going to either Asheville or Boone. Anyone have any suggestions of nice restaurants in Asheville? The point is this won't exactly be cheap. Not like we're going to go crazy or anything. I'm just saying it will probably cost us more than $20.00. Also, I'm going to have eat lunch today and tomorrow, so that will probably knock out the rest of my cash.
I've been reading a book about Las Vegas (Dummy's Guide to Vegas- which is actually quite good) and I can already tell I'm not going to come out of there without spending way too much money. I really want to see Cirque Du Soleil but I know tickets can cost like $200.00. Grr. I refuse to spend that much money on entertainment. Also, the month of April can be the costliest month to go to Vegas. That's just when our friends picked to get married there. We will survive though.
On top of all of this, Monday sucked huge walnuts. I got home from work and got my tax bill for my car, which is due at the end of the month (usually they give you longer!) and then on my way to trivia that night, I got a speeding ticket! Gah! 34 in a 25. Not bad, but still enough to ruin my day, week, month, etc. I was in such a funk that that's probably where my headache the next day came from.
-Lazy. I spent all day yesterday nestled on the couch, except for when Jared dragged me to IHOP. I could stand to sleep another week or so.
I know this post has been a lot of complaining, but this week I just don't feel much positivity. Good thing Jared is so sweet to me.

App Basketball
You know I don't really like basketball, but I had a lot of fun at the Appalachian vs. The Citadel basketball game that Katie and I went to in Boone yesterday. It was good practice for the Duke game I'm going to with Jared in a couple of weeks.
The best part, other than being in Boone, and the fact that we won in overtime, and having lunch with Marie, the BlueRidgeBlogger, was that our friend Rob from Popcorn, and his adorable daughter Gabby joined us! Gabby is the cutest young Mountaineer fan on the planet and she puts me to shame with her love of Yosef.

Thingas
I am unusually tired for having gone to bed earlier than usual every night this week. My mom seems to think maybe something is wrong with me (you're too young to be so tired!) but I'll find out soon enough. I'm going for my first full body physical (since 10th grade) next month.
What I'm excited about though is the possibility of my Apps playing LSU football for the season opener. In Louisiana! We were supposed to be playing them next year, but there's talk they're moving it to this year, since LSU won the National Championship in Division 1A and we won the National Championship in Division 1AA. Clash of the Champions!
We'll find out by the end of the day!!
Road trip to Louisiana! I'm excited.

Just Checking..
Do I have a sign on my forehead that says "Please talk to me, I LOVE creepy strangers!"?
I didn't think so.
Every time I go to lunch by myself, I break out whatever Patricia Cornwell book I am in the middle of, and I get some serious reading done while waiting for my food (and also while I'm eating, which is difficult, yes, but worth it). I love this. I don't like to be interrupted while I'm reading. And I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in this dislike.
So why is it that 1/2 the time I'm sitting at lunch, reading, minding my own business, I am interrupted by some creepy MAN asking me a bunch of questions?
HELLO! CAN'T YOU SEE I'M TRYING TO READ HERE? That's why there's a book in front of me, and my eyes are directed to it.
No, I'm not lonely and wishing I had a man to talk to and to comfort me. No, I don't want to rub your feet and carry your baby. Yes, I work in town. Yes, I get a one hour lunch break just like everyone else. Why do you care?
Now I know what you're thinking, readers. 'Maybe they're just trying to be friendly'. Whatever! If they were just trying to be friendly, why is it always men? Women are friendly too. But women don't interrupt me while I'm reading so they can ask me stupid questions like, "Whatcha readin? 'She any good? 'She got a lot a books?".
Hrmf.
Stupid Red Hair.

Eli Manning is Adorable. And Tom Brady went to Michigan.
This will most likely be my last football post in a long time.. :(
Katie and Daniel (and Carmen and Jon) came over to my house last night to watch the Super Bowl and we had a great time, even though it was just the four of us most of the time (Katie, Daniel, Jared, me). The cats kept us entertained, as well as the game.
I haven't seen an entertaining Super Bowl in a very long time. The Panthers Super Bowl was entertaining, and of course the Buccaneers Super Bowl was great, but that's just because they're my team.
This Super Bowl last night was awesome. It was almost as good as App vs. Michigan. Just not quite the same level.
I honestly would have been happy to see the Patriots win too. A perfect season would be such an amazing thing to see.
But the Giants weren't having any of that. Man, Eli Manning is a cutie. He kind of looks like a taller, bigger-nosed Jared. :)
Oh, and let's not forget, Tom Brady. He is one fine piece of manmeat. He's probably the dreamiest football player that ever lived. But he did go to Michigan. Maybe that's what happened last night. Bad juju....
Anywho that's all I have to say about that.
