I would blog more this week...

But honestly I can not concentrate nor think about anything else other than App football this weekend, and Hurricane Gustav.

And I know at least one of you might be sick of that kind of talk..

Next week normal blogging may or may not be back. Of course, I'll have to talk about my trip to Louisiana, and show off pictures.. And then I'll want to talk about the following weekend when I'll be going to the Appalachian versus Jacksonville State game....

Okay, okay. If you want something other than App football for the next few weeks, go read CNN.com. Otherwise, enjoy this kind of stuff:
Armanti about to throw his first pass of the game.

Oh, and I even made "Hells Bells" my current ringtone on my phone. Or should I change it back to "Hi Hi Yikas"?

10 DAYS!

So it just dawned on me that NEXT weekend is the ASU/LSU game! 10 days until I get to go see Appalachian play some real football again! I've been jonesing!

Katie, Daniel and I went to App's Fanfest last Saturday and had a lot of fun bar-hopping and then getting autographs and watching a scrimmage game. But scrimmage games aren't really very fun. Here are my pics.

My new favorite player is Coco Hillary:
Coco Hillary!!!

Ten more days until I get to see some heart-pounding, gut-wrenching, Tiger-fighting Mountaineer football!

Do I think we will win? No.. I'm not even going to kid myself here.

Do I think we will score some points? Hell Yes. We have that in us, for sure.

Do I miss Corey Lynch? :(

In ten days, I'll be here, sweaty and happy and having a grand time (I Hope) between a whole whole whole lot of LSU fans:

Muggle-Football-Vision

Two really awesome videos were released upon the world yesterday, to make me a happy little girl.

First is the first trailer for "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" which comes out in November. Yippee! I love these books and these movies. This book was my favorite of the series so I'm hoping the movie lives up to my imagination. I'm going to try to read the book again before I see the movie,to really get me in the mood. Oh, and when I got home from work yesterday, I was going to tell Jared about it, but he told me about it first!

The second video is the official trailer for Appalachian football versus LSU Tigers. This is also awesome, and gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. I will be at this big event, so it really hyped me up! I think everyone in the Appalachian family has already seen it, but if you haven't take a look. Worth it.

Last night I had dinner with Jared and his family. We had yummy-licious Outback. Then Jared and I went to see the Dark Knight. It was his first time watching it. He loved it as much as I did. I think my favorite part is the music, really.

Tonight I'm going to try to go to trivia. It's Carmen's first night doing trivia at Drips, so she needs me!

45 Down? Yes!

So on Wednesday I bought two airline tickets to go to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We are going to watch Appalachian play against the Louisiania Tigers. This is going to be scarey. I know I said it before about Michigan, but I still mean it. I honestly just hope we score a TD and don't come home with a broken quarterback again.

Either way this trip will rule for 2 reasons:
1: It will be the Mountaineers playing! Seeing as how they are the best football team ever, I will be excited to see the first game of the season in person.

2: I've never been to Louisiana. I've been 44 states in this lovely country of mine, but Louisiana is not on the list, yet. Now, next year they need to play in Kansas, North Dakota, Washington, Hawaii, and Alaska, so I can cross them all off of my list!

App Basketball

You know I don't really like basketball, but I had a lot of fun at the Appalachian vs. The Citadel basketball game that Katie and I went to in Boone yesterday. It was good practice for the Duke game I'm going to with Jared in a couple of weeks.

The best part, other than being in Boone, and the fact that we won in overtime, and having lunch with Marie, the BlueRidgeBlogger, was that our friend Rob from Popcorn, and his adorable daughter Gabby joined us! Gabby is the cutest young Mountaineer fan on the planet and she puts me to shame with her love of Yosef.

My Guys.

ASU's win was so big it's knocked me out of full-consciousness for a few days. And I didn't even get drunk! The lack of sleep mixed with the death-defying drive home made me all exhausted, but I'm semi-better now, except for that whole cold I think I'm coming down with.

The game was a blast. We won by so much that we didn't have to stay on the edge of our seats the whole time. Not that that is a bad thing. But sometimes you just want to have a total blowout.

Only problem is, now it's going to be a LONG time before I get to see good old Kidd Brewer Stadium again.
And also: No more Corey Lynch. No more Kevin Richardson. No more Nic Cardwell or Julian Rauch. No more Dexter Jackson or Hans Batichon. No more Jerome Touchstone or Justin Woazeah. No more Cam Speer. No more seniors. I have faith that the youngun's will keep us going though. Armanti and Devon Moore are there and they are Bad. As in Good Bad.

Only 8 1/2 more months until the next season.. Now.. when's that ring ceremony?????

Here are my pics:
Me and Stephen ate at PF Changs for lunch on the way. It was PF yummy:

We saw lots and lots of ASU cars:
Yippee

We had to walk through the ghetto to get to the stadium:

During tailgating, I ran into a lot of friends, including
Marie:

My boss and his family:

Joan and her younguns:

And Rob the App Guy. We had a little Bloggy meeting type thing:
Rob, Joan, Katie, and me, App bloggers.

And of course Katie and Daniel and Jeff and Tracy and Chad were there too!
Chad passed out. Before the game. Before sunset.

We talked to a Delaware fan who was seriously deluded as to the good ness of his team. Tracy had to tell him what's up:

The game was awesome and of course, we kicked some butt:

Afterwards, Katie told those Blue Hens to leave:

We rushed the field and there were pretty fireworks:

Top Ten Reasons Why Saturday Rocked.

I had a fantastic time at yesterday's game! My team, the Appalachian Mountaineers, won in their second round of playoffs versus Eastern Washington! yay! I love football.

Reasons why yesterday was so great:

1: I didn't fall down and hurt myself (although I did get a little sunburned, but not enough to count)

2: We came up with a new nickname for Armanti Edwards after some sneaky passes he made, "Magic Fingers" Edwards

3: Devon Moore. Where did this kid come from? He is awesome. Although for some reason I have to call him DeVON Moore. It's supposed to be pronounced just like Kevin, except with a "D".

4: We saw Marie from BlueRidgeBlog again (link on my sidebar). We didn't get to talk to her because she was hard at work, but she was kind enough to take a great picture of Katie and me.

5: Katie and I discovered it's good luck to crouch down when there is about to be a critical play and our defense has the ball. For the second week in a row, it caused the other team to fumble. We are good.

6: I got to eat at Mellow Mushroom!

7: I had a good hair day

8: Corey Lynch! Corey Lynch! Caught another amazing game-changing interception!

9: I got to eat some of Katie's fantastic, out-of-this-world sausage balls.

10: 38-35. Need I say more?

Here are all of my pics.

You know what?

I had a pretty great weekend. A lot of football, and I loved it.
Yesterday, my Buccaneers beat Atlanta 31 to 7. Woohoo! And, my fantasy football team won 98 to 97. A close one. I started out the fantasy season 0 and 5. Now I am 6 and 5.

I went to the App game (obviously) and tailgated with Katie, Daniel, Jeff, Tracy, Chad, Erica K, and 2 new people (Dennis and Kristen). I had a blast tailgating and had an even better time at the game. Somehow the game is a lot more fun when it's close, like it was this weekend. We won 37 - 17 and it seemed a lot closer than that to me. I wrote 2 posts ago that we played bad, but really I'm no pro and shouldn't have judged. Plus, I was kind of drunk when I wrote that. If we hadn't played well, we wouldn't have won. That's that.

This weekend is the first round of the playoffs and we are playing James Madison University (who we beat last year in the playoffs) and I just bought my ticket. I'm still not sure if I will be able to go or not, but I figured I'd better buy a ticket now and not be stuck without one just in case.

Here's a great picture from this past game that my girl Marie took for the Blue Ridge Blog (click here for blog):

P.S. I told Jared on Saturday night that we were going to name our first born son Lynch. Lynch Williamson. I like it.

Collection #10: Pictures

Short and sweet tonight.. I'm still thawing from the Appalachian slaughtering..er.. uh.. game in Boone today.

I collect pictures. Ever since I was a young'n I've always loved taking pictures. I've always had a camera, polaroid or otherwise. I have pictures all over my house, I have about 15 photo albums from before I got a digital camera, and I have exactly 3,800 pictures on my flickr right now. If you think that's a lot, you should see all the ones I haven't added to flickr. I try to never leave home without my camera, because you never know when you'll have a great oppurtunity to take a great picture.

Here are a few from the football game that Jared, my dad, and I went to today. My Apps beat Western Carolina U. in Boone. The final score was 79-35. We left at the beginning of the third quarter, as it was veryveryvery buttass cold.
i love ya

In Honor of Black Saturday.

Tomorrow is Black Saturday at the Rock (a.k.a. Kidd Brewer Stadium) in Boone, NC. All of the fans are encouraged to wear all black. I bet we can pull it off. If we win (pssh... if.. ha!) we will be continuing with the longest home game winning streak in the country. That's hot (HOT!HOT!HOT!) to be exact. I can't be there in person, but I'll be there in spirit! Here are some pretty pictures to get me going.
And.. you know.. the layout.. :)

Old School Yosef.

Last night I finally got around to cleaning and organizing my under-the-stairs closet, which has previously been the catch-all junk pile. I have a literal mountain of straight-to-Goodwill junk. Going through one of my storage bins, I found an old friend I had forotten about:

This is the polo shirt I wore to my first Appalachian game. I was in the marching band. They had ordered a batch of polos with the new yosef logo, but they hadn't come in on time. So they gave us these classic beauties, which we only used for one game, and got to keep.

I didn't appreciate how cool it was back then, but I certainly do now. I'm wearing it today at my office, to show my Appalachian Pride.

A Few Random Things

First off, and I know I'm a little late with this, but really, why can't people leave Britney's VMA performance alone? I understand that she's a "train wreck" and possibly a "bad mother" and that she needs to wear underwear, but WHY do we have to call her fat?

Seriously, would you call this fat?

I mean really? I think it's ridiculous the standards people hold to female celebrities these days. Sure, she's not as skinny as she used to be, but she's definitely not fat. I'm not defending her music, her lifestyle, or her crazy wardrobe, but it just bothers me the way people think scrawny is hot.

Anywho...

Last Saturday I went up to Boone with Stephen, Katie, Daniel, Jeff & Tracy (all Appalachian alumni) and we tailgated for the ASU vs. Lenoir-Rhyne game. I had a lot of fun tailgating, but the actual game part was not fun. ASU has gotten itself so hyped up with promoting our awesome football team that now things are out of hand! To even see the field, my friend and I had to sit on the hill BEHIND the visitor's seats and hold on to a tree so we wouldn't slip down the hill in the dirt. It sucked. After the 1st quarter, when App was up 21 to 0, I decided to go find Katie and try to sit somewhere else. I found Katie but we didn't watch anymore of the game. I really hope that the next game I go to won't be as crowded, but I know it will :(. I'm also hoping that at the Western Carolina vs. Appalachian game (Western is our "rival"), that Jared, my Dad, and I will be able to actually watch the game. That would be fabulous.

I've already asked off for December 14th, which is the date of the I-AA (FCS)National Championship in Chattanooga. I know it's a bit early and I could be jinxing things, but I did the same thing last year and I actually got to go. So ha!

Let's see.. what else...
This weekend is Carmen's birthday, WOO! I will probably be working through her cookout, but hopefully I can get off from the Brush early enough to party a little bit.

Now that I've had some real bartender training from the Brush, I am anxious to make some fun layered drinks. We are getting a new drink menu but it doesn't start until sometime next week.

I can't wait to make (and try) a Dragon's Breath. It is a layered shot with Creme de Almond, Jager, and Bailey's. I know it sounds gross, but it's pretty and I want to try one. Also, we will have one called Black Gold that is Jager and Goldschlagger. I want to rename it Yosef. :)

Worth It?

Today: My face is peeling. The burn-your-retinas-bright sunburn I got at the Applachian vs. Michigan game is one of the worst I've had. Where it is peeling, the skin underneath is bright red, just like the burn was. The only spot on my face that isn't red is where I had a rub-on "A" tattoo on my cheek. It looked kind of cool on Saturday night after I took it off.

I just got my voice back yesterday. Now my glands on my neck are hurting like crazy. I guess from the screaming?

My bottom lip is swollen and so so so sore from being burnt. It hurts to eat or drink.

My head is killing me along with everything else.

And I'm so tired. Even though I went to bed earlier last night (only 1/2 an hour).

Was the biggest upset of college football history worth all this suffering?

Hell Yes.

NEXT weekend...

When bored in a GIS environment, one finds themselves looking at Watauga County's ArcIMS website (it's like a county-wide GoogleMaps).

I found this lovely aerial image of ASU's Kidd Brewer Stadium (where I have spent a lot of time):

Then I thought, I should look at Michigan's Stadium, to see what it looks like, since I'll be there NEXT weekend.

Wow. What a difference a Top Ten School makes. Feeling very small going into this..

Touchdown!

Warning: This post is about Football.

Even though I had a pretty God awful week with "As the Brush Turns" (as Joan calls it) (which I am getting over now, I think..), I had something to smile about on Friday night.

Football season is back, and my beloved Buccaneers won their first preseason game against the New Egland Patriots. Yesss! This year is going to be a bit different since a) my favorite player is definitely (well 99%) sure he won't be playing ever again due to neck injury number 5,4039u4093. And b) they fired one of their best defensive players and he's NOT happy about it.

My beloved Buccaneers won the Superbowl in 2002, and since then they have yeilded nada. They barely made it into the playoffs once since then, but it was mostly technicality. I say it every year, but this will be the year they come back!

If only they could pull things off like the Mountaineers! Two Championships in a row, and this year looks just as good for them. Why? Because they have pretty much the same lineup of fantastic players.

Why is it when the Bucs won their superbowl, they traded half their good players? The team that WON them the championship is now all but gone as only 3 of the great ones are left, and one is on neck injury number 5,23980980.

I love football season. I have 2 fantasty football teams (which will be drafting next week), one awesome college football team to watch (Appalachian) and one mediocre pro football team to watch.

And I love it all!!!

going for 2! for real!

Thank Yosef for the Appalachian Mountaineers. After a long and disappointing season from my other 'Neers (the Tampa Bay Buccaneers), I am so glad for my alma mater's fantabulous football program. Watching the game on Saturday, (on HDTV!) I couldn't help but get a little nostalgiac for the days when I was a Marching Mountianeer (2000 and 2001). I wish I could find a picture for proof...

None of that matters now though, because Friday I, along with 20,000 or so other Mountaineer fans, will be in Chatanooga to cheer on Armanti Edwards, Kevin Richardson, and the rest of the most amazing football team in the country. 27 straight wins at home, and now we're going for 2 straight NCAA championships!

I'm bringing with me a UNCC graduate who will be a transplant on Friday. I've already told him he better wear some black and gold Friday, or he's being left behind!

Remember this from last year?

Expect something equally amazing this Friday night.

It really is great to be a Mountaineer.
