You are the Supreme Mack Daddy.

Well I know it's Wednesday and most people post about their weekends on Monday, but I've been stuck in GPS land for the past two miserable days, so I'm posting now.

I finally got my new, right camera on Thursday. I had to work both jobs though, so I didn't get to play with it much but I did take this picture:
Finally got my new camera.. the one I actually wanted.

Friday I slept in since it was a holiday and then worked at night, no news here.
one of my favorite. I'll send it to his mom.

Saturday was awesome. I slept late and then went to Target and cleaned house. Then I hung out with Carmen, Carmen's husband Jon, and Jon's brother Thad.

We went to the park and wondered around:
Thad Carmen and Jon
The hottest park rangers ever.
Pretty spring

And then, we grilled out some yummy hamburgers with pimento cheese and big ole baked (microwaved) potatoes:
Carmen barbequeing like a mad woman.

It was a beautiful day and I always enjoy slacking off. At least I cleaned my house during the day :)

Sunday was Easter so Jared and I headed out to Canton to eat with his family and see his pretty doggie:
Jessie
Jared and his OTHER girl
Sweet Jessie with her tongue out

He showed me his middle and high school yearbooks and I laughed at a lot of goofy pictures and mullets.
I find this page HiLARious

On the way back I got bored in the car and started taking neato pictures of the dash board:
Sometimes I get bored in the car

It was a great weekend. Hopefully this one will be just as good, but who knows.

1) A baby being born on a train toilet and falling through to the tracks, and surviving.

2) Appalachian beating Michigan 34-32 on Sept. 1st, 2007.
P.S. The second picture down on that page was taken by yours truly! And the fourth picture.

3) My Mother learning how to use and send text messages.

Miracles do happen.

And here's a little something to brighten your day:

Happy St. Patrick's Day Ya'll

Exactly 11 years ago I was marching with my band (the South Rowan Raiders!) in the St. Patty's Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland. I also kissed the Blarney Stone but it's been more than 7 years so I guess my luck ran out ;D Actually I think things have been much better in the past 4 years.

Anywho tonight Jared and I will stop by McGuire's for Green Beer and to see Carmen who got suckered into working.

I had a great time hanging out with Carmen and Jon and some friends last night. We barbequed chicken and corn and had baked potatoes and bread, and finished it all off with desert (strawberry short cake) and a movie (No Country for Old Men). Good times.

The one with the ketchup.

To catch you up on some things:

A) My Gall Bladder is fine, apparently. The doctor said I probably just have an infection and I need to take Prilosec for 2 months.

B) I'm going to send the camera back and get a refund and get the camera I really wanted. Of course, it's going to take a while. I have to send it back, then it'll take 3-5 days to get the refund, then I have to order another one. :(

C) I'm never going to like basketball. Not even when I get an extra hour of lunch so we can all watch the ACC Tournament together. BORING.

D) I miss Jared.

E) This guy is hot (even though he makes funny faces):

So I got my new camera.. Or did I?

First picture with new camera that finally arrived yesterday:
First picture with new camera

About 20 minutes later I was fooling around with more of the buttons and realized all of a sudden "holy shnikies, this is NOT the camera I ordered". I was very peeved.

I ordered this camera , the Fujifilm S6000fd. This is a perfectly respectable MID level camera that I thought about and really wanted.

What they sent me was this camera , the Fujifilm S7000.

Yes, it's WAY more expensive, but I didn't pay extra for it.

Here are the pros and cons of this situation:
Pros:
-it's a higher-end camera
-it's more advanced
-it's worth more

Cons:
-it's 4 years older than the one I wanted (it's brand new, but manufactured in 2003)
-the zoom is not as good
-it's more advanced (i'm mid level..)

I know I'll get used to it and I'll love it. But damn it, I really thought long and hard about what camera to get and I really wanted the S6000fd.

American Idol + Beatles = NO!

I love American Idol and I love Beatles music. Last night they were combined and the Top 12 sang Beatles songs. Boo. This was a bad idea and even I knew that. If you're gonna cover a Beatles song you have to be more than just a good singer. You have to be a great singer and you have to be willing to put all of your emotions into it.

One of the most horrific things I've ever seen was Kristy Lee Cook singing the square dance version of "8 Days a Week" last night. I wanted to vomit while watching it. I really really really hated it. Really.

In case you missed it:

And if that doesn't work, it's here

I have to say though, I love me some Jason Castro, and I thought he did great last night, but he makes some funny faces on stage. Here is my favorite ever, as he hits his last note last night:

I know 2 very bad kitties who will be celebrating a birthday soon.

So on Sunday I decided it would be a perfect day to take Meatwad and Beefcake to PetSmart to get their nails clipped. It was a gorgeous day, and the cats seemed to be in good moods. I packed them up in their carriers and we headed on out.

When we got in the pet salon area, two of the women there immediately recognized me, and I assume it was because of Meatwad. Here's why:

Meatwad basically attacked the poor woman who got stuck clipping his nails. It was like an all out brawl before she put the cone on. It looked a lot like this:
Photobucket

And also a bit like this:
Photobucket

Except, imagine the lion is Meatwad and the tiger is the PetSmart lady.

I went out to pay while she was finishing him up, and there were people outside the salon staring saying "Look at that crazy cat!". The woman who rang me up asked, "is that your cat everyone is talking about?". YEA. That's my Meatwad.

So then she trims Beefcake's nails and I can see he behaves... but when she brings him back over to me in his carrier, she says, "I just want you to know, he's peed all over the inside of the carrier and himself."

Great. One mean cat and one pee-covered cat. That poor lady. I tipped her for being so calm about it.

Then I sadly took my two bad kitties home and gave poor Beefcake a bath. I would have taken a picture but it takes both hands to handle that.

$$$$$$$$$$$

You know what I love? Wachovia's new Way to Save Program.

I signed up like 2 months ago. Every time I use my atm card to buy anything, it transfers $1.00 from my checking into this savings account (with interest!). I don't even pay attention to it. After 2 months I already have $50.00! Woo! Maybe by the end of the year I'll be rich from my own money!

I've finally decided to buy a camera. Carmen's husband Jon showed me a couple of really nice cameras yesterday and I really liked the Nikon D40. I thought a lot about it, but it's more than I want to spend, and it's more than I need right now. It's a great camera, but a little too advanced for me, I feel.

So I'm going to go ahead and buy the Fuji from yesterday's post. If I don't like it, I can return it, no big deal! Yay! I'm so excited!

UPDATE!!- I just did it! I bought a new camera finally! And I got a package that comes with a case and 1G xd card.

Fujifilm S6000fd

This is the camera I really want:

But the cheapest I can find it is $350.00 (with shipping). That's too much for me! Maybe I can convince someone to help me out with it as an early birhtday present :D......

Stud Muffin.

I'm getting better with my Grandma's old 35mm camera. But I need digital!

Wednesday, March 05, 2008

Blah2@! Did you know...

Trying to decide on a new camera sucks.

I can't decide whether I want something big or small.
I can't decide whether I want something I can use easily or something more advanced.
I can't decide whether I should rip my hair out or kill someone.

Narrowing down between:
Fujifilm S5700/S700

Fujifilm S6000fd

Fujifilm S5600

I like my Fujis. And I don't like looking at the Amazon reviews because they blow me away.

I wish I could afford the 6000fd and also a small camera for fun times. BUT I can't.

Do You Know a Yawn-Gleeter?

Almost every single time I yawn, I gleet.

Urban Dictionary defines gleet as: The ejection of saliva directly out of ones salvatory glands and out of his/her mouth. (I won't go into the other definitions (ew!!))

I don't do it on purpose, but when I yawn, a small amount of spit comes out and lands on whatever is near me. It has been happening ever since I remember. It's not gross, and most of the time I cover my mouth. I do remember in 4th grade when the hottie who sat in front of me made fun of me for it.
Jared finds it endearing.

The other day it occurred to me that I don't know anyone else who does this. Am I the only one?

Maybe I'm special. I'm like, the Yawn-Gleeting Queen or something.

I have the POWER!!

Funny, I turned off my hot tub a month ago (after recieving a LARGE electric bill) and I got my new electric bill and it went down $100.00.

Thank goodness. I mean, I'm glad I have it and all, but seriously?

The best part about having a hot tub is that one day, when I want to sell my condo, it will help a lot to have that as a bonus. Condominiums aren't very big sellers 'round these parts.

Not that I'm moving anytime soon, but I like to think about these things ahead of time.

P.S.

Has anyone else wondered...

Why a church affiliated school (Duke) has a mascot called the Blue Devils? I thought that was funny as Jared and I sat in Cameron Indoor Stadium last night.

We had a really good time at the Duke vs. Georgia Tech game last night. We got to Durham around 5 and walked around campus for a while. Then Brad came and picked us up and we went to dinner at the Macaroni Grill (my fave Italian!) and it was awesome. Then we went back to the game. It was my first Duke game and I have to say, it's pretty fun. The fan base is really absorbed in "school spirit". They really get into it and I love that. I can see how it would be quite intimidating for the other team. I would be intimidated. The Big House (in Michigan) is more intimidating, but Cameron is more fun.

The Duke basketball games fall below App football games for fun, but above App basketball games. I have a feeling in about 10 years App basketball games will be just as fun. The fan base isn't there right now, but it will be.

Anywho, I'm back to work now and I'm tired. Here are some pics from last night:

I'm very thirsty...

So yesterday I went to the doctor. I've been wanting to see a primary care physician just for a yearly check up. I didn't have one, so I made an appointment with one of the doctor's listed on Blue Cross/Blue Shield's web site.

Since I was a new patient, they told me I'd just be "establishing" yesterday and that I would come back later for my actual physical. Once I was in there and I talked to her, she decided to go ahead and get started with the physical and to go ahead and do bloodwork. She also convinced me to get the HPV vaccination just in case (since BCBS only pays for it until I'm 26 - which is in April!).

So after she checks my reflexes and all that she sits me down in the hall for the nurse to draw blood. I always get really nervous at the thought of having blood drawn. I don't like anything to touch the inside of my wrists and the inside of my elbows is almost as bad.

I'm reminded of the first time I donated blood and I tell the nurse about it. Then she gives me my shot, and moves towards the vials she will be filling with contents from my body. I look away..

She takes the first two vials of blood and I feel nervous.. As she's switching to the third vial I start to get real hot and then I realize I'm dizzy too. So of course, once she finished taking my blood, she had to rush and get me a coke so I didn't pass out.

There's nothing I love more than being at the doctor's office and I'm sweating from EVERY pore and drinking coke just so I don't pass out. I felt too weak to go back to work.

And they told me that I need to come back today for an ultrasound on my gallbladder, which may be why my chest has been hurting me. So I haven't been able to eat or drink anything this morning.. which is why I'm very thirsty.

Bored at Work Again.

I hate being a klutz.

I dropped my camera Saturday night and broke it. I wasn't even drinking yet.
Now, it's stuck in "P" mode and none of the buttons work except to turn it on and take pictures. I can't change any settings. I don't know what to do :(. I almost cried yesterday thinking about it. I don't know if it can be fixed or even who to take it to.

Another Nerd Factor: American Idol

Yes, I watch American Idol. Every year I say I'm not going to but every year I do anyways. And I don't even care. Other people watch Survivor, which is pure crap to me, so I'm going to watch American Idol, which is pure crap to other people. I've also got Jared watching it, only don't tell him you know that :).

I wasn't sure who to pull for going into the top 24. I try to always pull for one favorite boy and one favorite girl. For favorite girl right now I'm pulling for Jordan Borgella, the plus size model, because she's cool. Of course after the girls perform tonight I'll make an informed decision. As far as boys go, I was going to pull for David Archuletta.

David Archuletta is a 17 year old kid with an amazing talent. He's basically everyone's favorite, so he doesn't really need my vote. Although, I wouldn't be opposed to adopting him.

Then there's this Australian hottie guy who has a lot of the other votes. Nuff said.

Then there's this guy:
Photobucket
Jason Castro.

Before last night's boy's performances, I'd never actually heard him sing. Last night I saw this guy perform "Daydream" with a guitar and it totally rocked to me. I'd buy his album. Plus, he's kind of cute, even though I don't really like dreads.

The point is, I'm pulling for this kid (he's 20 years old) and last night I voted for him like 100 times. Really.
Go Jason! To see a video clip of his performance or to listen to the mp3, go here.
Photobucket

p.s. DialIdol says he's safe! Good thing I voted 100 times.

Oh, and yes, I think he looks high too.

The Things That Happen in My Dreams.

Last night I had a dream about Heath Ledger. A GOOD dream.
Photobucket
For some reason I was in Australia and I was at this college party type thing of people I didn't know. All of a sudden somebody in the corner started playing guitar and singing and it was beautiful. I went in for a closer look and it was Heath Ledger. Of course all the girls in the room were swooning over him, because he was gorgeous and a celebrity and all. For some reason he picked me and we had a good time.

I was always thought he was super hot, but I wasn't really affected by his death. It came after I was dealing with my friend's death.

Anywho I just thought I'd share.

BOOM!

Things are looking up a bit today. Yesterday, as you know, I stayed out of work again due to the sickness (ass). I was stuffed up, with a runny nose and sneezy, headachey nonsense. Jared told me to expect a "delivery" to come sometime yesterday, so I stayed downstairs and slept/watched tv on the couch all day. By the time Jared got home at 7:15, the "delivery" still hadn't arrived.

Jared is so sweet, he got really upset about it and called the company. Turns out they were just running REALLY late and they were on their way. They brought me these lovely flowers at 8:30:
my boy did good
Along with a box of chocolates. This made me very happy, since I've always had bad luck on Valentines Day. This is the first time a boy has ever sent me flowers on V-day. It was so sweet and Jared was very happy to see me happy.

So then we mustered up the strength and went to Carraba's for a yummy dinner. We got home at 10:00 and passed out. It was nice.

Today I still feel sick, but I'm back at work, with lots of stuff to do. I just checked my bank account and I got my Federal Tax Refund! Woo! So tonight, Jared and I are going to sit down and pick out airline tickets for our trip to Vegas. Yippee!

Now I'm excited.

Thursday, February 14, 2008

How are you spending your V-day?

I'm staying home sick in bed.

Could be worse. I think we'll just stick to Hickory tonight for romance though :P

Hope yours is good.

explosion!

Today I feel:

-Like I may be coming down with something.. we'll call it .. Ass. I feel like ass.
Why? Probably because yesterday I called in sick for a headache. I did have a headache, and it sucked.. but I probably still could have sat at my office. On Tuesdays I'm supposed to be outside GPSn, but I couldn't fathom doing that with my head esploding (yes, I spelled it that way on purpose). Anywho apparently I should have just sucked it up and worked because now I can tell that I'm going to be actually sick and I don't want to use another sick day this week.

-Very Poor. I need to stop going out on weekends and save up for Vegas. It occured to me last night that I only have about $20.00 of spending money (that doesn't include savings) to get me through until Friday when I get paid. Normally this would be fine, since that's only 2 days away. But lucky for me, tomorrow is Valentines Day. Lucky of luckyness, Jared and I are both off tomorrow night and I will spend my first Valentines Day ever with a boyfriend (last year we both had to work all day so it didn't count). We are planning on going to either Asheville or Boone. Anyone have any suggestions of nice restaurants in Asheville? The point is this won't exactly be cheap. Not like we're going to go crazy or anything. I'm just saying it will probably cost us more than $20.00. Also, I'm going to have eat lunch today and tomorrow, so that will probably knock out the rest of my cash.

I've been reading a book about Las Vegas (Dummy's Guide to Vegas- which is actually quite good) and I can already tell I'm not going to come out of there without spending way too much money. I really want to see Cirque Du Soleil but I know tickets can cost like $200.00. Grr. I refuse to spend that much money on entertainment. Also, the month of April can be the costliest month to go to Vegas. That's just when our friends picked to get married there. We will survive though.

On top of all of this, Monday sucked huge walnuts. I got home from work and got my tax bill for my car, which is due at the end of the month (usually they give you longer!) and then on my way to trivia that night, I got a speeding ticket! Gah! 34 in a 25. Not bad, but still enough to ruin my day, week, month, etc. I was in such a funk that that's probably where my headache the next day came from.

-Lazy. I spent all day yesterday nestled on the couch, except for when Jared dragged me to IHOP. I could stand to sleep another week or so.

I know this post has been a lot of complaining, but this week I just don't feel much positivity. Good thing Jared is so sweet to me.

App Basketball

You know I don't really like basketball, but I had a lot of fun at the Appalachian vs. The Citadel basketball game that Katie and I went to in Boone yesterday. It was good practice for the Duke game I'm going to with Jared in a couple of weeks.

The best part, other than being in Boone, and the fact that we won in overtime, and having lunch with Marie, the BlueRidgeBlogger, was that our friend Rob from Popcorn, and his adorable daughter Gabby joined us! Gabby is the cutest young Mountaineer fan on the planet and she puts me to shame with her love of Yosef.

Thingas

I am unusually tired for having gone to bed earlier than usual every night this week. My mom seems to think maybe something is wrong with me (you're too young to be so tired!) but I'll find out soon enough. I'm going for my first full body physical (since 10th grade) next month.

What I'm excited about though is the possibility of my Apps playing LSU football for the season opener. In Louisiana! We were supposed to be playing them next year, but there's talk they're moving it to this year, since LSU won the National Championship in Division 1A and we won the National Championship in Division 1AA. Clash of the Champions!

We'll find out by the end of the day!!

Road trip to Louisiana! I'm excited.

I don't get it.

I mean, what is it the guys see in Angelina Jolie? Other than the "lips" of course.
And for that matter, I don't find Brad Pitt that good looking either.
You should see the large size of this picture.

P.S. this is my 503rd post! I have a lot of blogs!

Just Checking..

Do I have a sign on my forehead that says "Please talk to me, I LOVE creepy strangers!"?

Photobucket

I didn't think so.

Every time I go to lunch by myself, I break out whatever Patricia Cornwell book I am in the middle of, and I get some serious reading done while waiting for my food (and also while I'm eating, which is difficult, yes, but worth it). I love this. I don't like to be interrupted while I'm reading. And I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in this dislike.

So why is it that 1/2 the time I'm sitting at lunch, reading, minding my own business, I am interrupted by some creepy MAN asking me a bunch of questions?

HELLO! CAN'T YOU SEE I'M TRYING TO READ HERE? That's why there's a book in front of me, and my eyes are directed to it.

No, I'm not lonely and wishing I had a man to talk to and to comfort me. No, I don't want to rub your feet and carry your baby. Yes, I work in town. Yes, I get a one hour lunch break just like everyone else. Why do you care?

Now I know what you're thinking, readers. 'Maybe they're just trying to be friendly'. Whatever! If they were just trying to be friendly, why is it always men? Women are friendly too. But women don't interrupt me while I'm reading so they can ask me stupid questions like, "Whatcha readin? 'She any good? 'She got a lot a books?".

Hrmf.

Stupid Red Hair.

Eli Manning is Adorable. And Tom Brady went to Michigan.

This will most likely be my last football post in a long time.. :(

Katie and Daniel (and Carmen and Jon) came over to my house last night to watch the Super Bowl and we had a great time, even though it was just the four of us most of the time (Katie, Daniel, Jared, me). The cats kept us entertained, as well as the game.

I haven't seen an entertaining Super Bowl in a very long time. The Panthers Super Bowl was entertaining, and of course the Buccaneers Super Bowl was great, but that's just because they're my team.

This Super Bowl last night was awesome. It was almost as good as App vs. Michigan. Just not quite the same level.

I honestly would have been happy to see the Patriots win too. A perfect season would be such an amazing thing to see.

But the Giants weren't having any of that. Man, Eli Manning is a cutie. He kind of looks like a taller, bigger-nosed Jared. :)

Oh, and let's not forget, Tom Brady. He is one fine piece of manmeat. He's probably the dreamiest football player that ever lived. But he did go to Michigan. Maybe that's what happened last night. Bad juju....

Anywho that's all I have to say about that.

Thursday, January 31, 2008

Yesterday Meatwad made me cry.

I got home from work yesterday after a long day of my eyeballs burning from staring at the computer. I check the mail and casually walk to my front door. I pull open the storm door, which wasn't really shut, and realize my front door is open about 8 inches. I rush inside and see that the house hasn't been robbed and realize I must not have pulled the door all the way shut when I left that morning. I sigh in relief to realize no one robbed us blind, and then I suddenly remember how much Meatwad likes to escape. I look around frantically and yell out for my kitty. I run around downstairs looking in his usual spots. No kitty. I run upstairs, and yes, Beefcake is still safely shut up in the extra bedroom (or else he will bully Meatwad out of his breakfast) so I check my bedroom for Meatwad. I look under the bed, in the closets, and in the bathtub. No Meatwad.

It finally hits me that my Meatwad is gone. I run outside in tears and start calling out for him. I am so distraught that I run next door to see if Carmen and/or Jon has seen him. Jon is home and says he hasn't seen him. He tells me he will put on his coat and help me look and that I shouldn't worry. I am reminded that Meatwad has been out a few times before and has never gone far.

"But he's never been out this long before" I wimper..

So I make sure I am sane and I start at the bushes right next to my front door.

And I walk around it, and look down under the palm plant. And there he was looking up at me.

He stared at me as if to say, "What? Did I do something wrong?"

So I scoop him up and tell Jon I found him and that I was going to throw him in a tub of water for scaring me (which I didn't do).

We went inside and I had a long talk with my kitty about why he is indoors and some cats are outdoors.

That Darn Cat.

I have a Bad Feeling About this..

total star wars geekdom:

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/offbeat/2008/01/29/oh.star.wars.fanatic.wkef

At least I'm not that bad.

Tooth Paste.

I miss you blog world.. You've been good to me for like 3 years now and I feel as if I'm neglecting you lately. I promise that soon I will be back to being committed. I promise that I will stop being lazy. I know I've been working a lot more outside lately, and therefore haven't been able to blog at work, but that's just me making excuses... I know I could blog from home. *sigh*

I would like to say that I am mad at the Crest Company. I have been buying Crest toothpaste for a long time because I like the taste, but mostly because I like the twist off cap that Crest uses.

Last time I bought toothpaste however, I got home and opened it, and there was one of those awful attached bendy flip lids.

I realize this type is better for most people because you can't lose it and it's easier to manipulate.

But here's the thing: It's nasty.

After 2 weeks of use, it gets all sticky and full of toothpaste. You have to take the time to clean it off, or else next time it will be stuck shut from built up toothpaste. Ew.

I swear to you that this is the main reason why I have been buying Crest for years. Now, it appears, I'm going to have to go with another brand. One that offers twist off caps.. One that won't nasty up my life.

:(

Hickory Daily Record

Hey, what do you know, our local newspaper finally decided to print something really newsworthy. Yes, that's right. This past Monday night at trivia, team No Love (aka Captain No Love) won first place. Booyea. The prize? A $15.00 gift certificate, and fame within Hickory. . Er.. at least with the people who read the paper... Of course, it'd be better if it was in color.. but what can you do?

Mwa ha ha ha...

The plan for this weekend? Hang out with Katie tomorrow night (as well as karaoke at McGuire's) and hang out with my man on Sunday.

The A-Train has stopped running.

My favorite football player, Mike Alstott, retired today :(

Of course, he hasn't played in a couple of years due to injury, so it's not that big of a shock, but still. I'll miss watching him plow through the Panthers Defensive Line. I need to find my #40 hat now...

Here he is at the game my brother Alan and I went to, where he gaves me the thumbs up to my marriage proposal:

I had a sign that said "Mike Alstott, will you marry me?"

Meatwad's Twin

As I was reading some Popsugar the other day, I happened to notice that one of the ads featured a very handsome kitty cat. This cat could be Meatwad's twin!

Compare to my Meatwad:
awesers! sheets on my cat.

He even has the same eyegoop stuff.

Maybe it's one of Meatwad's siblings from the Catawba animal shelter.

bad kitty

So I ended up going to the memorial service. I knew I would regret it if I didn't. I was good for me to go. I got to see a lot of people I hadn't seen in forever, and I even managed to go visit my mom while I was in Kannapolis. Of course it snowed there and it was pretty. And in Hickory? It didn't snow. It rained.

I hate it when they predict snow and we get nothing! Saturday night I went to Carmen's karaoke. Then Sunday Jared and I went to lunch and then sat around all day watching football, movies, and counting change. It was a nice day.

Then last night we had a bad night's sleep. Big Mac figured out how to get on the roof right outside my 2nd story bedroom. He figured out how to get in my window, and climb on the screen right outside my bedroom and meow all night. BAD KITTY. I had to open the window and squirt him with the water gun. I hate to do it when it's cold outside, but nothing else seemed to work.

Of course a few minutes later, he was at it again.. What to do...

Today I went to see Cloverfield. That is a GOOD movie. I really liked it. GO see it, if you don't mind scary movies.

LAzy.

Yesterday my office was closed due to the "snow" and since the Brush had pretty much no customers, I didn't go to work at night either. I feel so lazy. I didn't do anything yesterday except buy groceries. I did cook 2 meals, though. Other than that I just slept, ate, and watched tv. I'm such a couch potato!

Tomorrow I have a dilemma. Joan from Southern Suburbia has offered to give me her tickets to the Champions Day at the App basketball game, where I could go and meet a lot of the football players, and get autographs and pictures and such. This would be great, and I'm not sure I'd get another oppurtunity.
The only thing is, they scheduled the Memorial service for my friend for tomorrow from 2 to 4. I have to decide whether I should be a good friend or a good fan.

And now they're saying it's supposed to snow again tomorrow, and it'll be more than this past snow. If that happens, I might not go anywhere. I guess we'll have to see.

Outside Right Now...

It's SNOWING! yay!

Drugs.

It still amazes me when people I know die of a drug overdose.
I'm still amazed that people are stupid enough to overdose on drugs.
I'm still amazed that people are stupid enough to do drugs that can easily kill you.

Cocaine, Oxycontin and alcohol. Who would be stupid enough to do these all together? There are still these people.

For me, it was a childhood friend. My first best friend's little brother. He was 22. Old enough to know better. Perhaps being in a very popular local band with his brother and 2 of his best friends made him think he was a god. Perhaps he was depressed. Who knows.

I can still remember his first day of Kindergarten. He cried on the bus the whole way to school and the whole way home. For a week. We made fun of him. I don't regret it.

He was pot-bellied as a child and I remember my Nana remarking that he looked like one of those starving African babies.

He loved Ghostbusters and worshipped his brother Zach. You should have seen his hammer dance. It was top shelf, even when he was only a kid.

I hadn't seen him in years and then back in 2004 my brother convinced me to go see his and his brother's band play a show in Cornelius. It was like a little family reunion or something.

He was so sweet and I got no "druggie" vibe off of him.

What a waste. On Saturday night he OD'd and they took him to the hospital and resusitated him and he was in a brain-dead coma until last night.

It makes me sad, even though I barely knew him anymore.

The Repeater. Yea.. The Repeater.

Have you ever worked with that guy? You know the one. The guy who repeats everything he says, sometimes more than once?

In one of my many offices I work with a guy, and we'll call him Bobby. On a certain day every week I am subjected to Bobby all day. As in, I walk in the office, and we head out to spend the day side by side working, until time to leave.

Bobby is a repeater. This bothers me to no end.

Here are a few examples of how Bobby speaks to me:
"Yea, the wind almost knocked me over yesterday."
-I don't reply because I'm waiting to see.. and sure enough:
"Yea, that wind almost knocked me over."

"Sometimes I just don't have the energy"
"Yea... I just don't have the energy"

"I had to call the city to come pick me up because I ran out of gas yesterday."
-me: "Oh yea?"
"Yea, I ran out of gas and had to call the city."

He doesn't repeat exactly what was said in the first sentence, but the point is repeated nonetheless.

Seriously, Bobby? I got it. Okay? When you told me the first time? I heard you. Then, the second time, I nodded. The third time? Okay, enough already.

Have you ever known a repeating Bobby?

I guess it's better than having to listen to Van Halen.

The new kitty in my life.
Saturday night Carmen and I were sitting in the hot tub relaxing after painting my dresser. We heard a "meow"coming from between the hot tub and the brick wall. We assumed at first that it was Cheddar, Carmen's kitty. This is where she likes to hang out, since it's a small space that stays warm due to the hot tub.

Carmen soon realized that it wasn't Cheddar, due to the voice of the "meow". We got to looking, which was difficult because it's dark, and realized it was a new kitty. We coaxed him out and I realized it was a very pretty young Siamese kitty. It skittered back behind the hot tub and I really didn't think much else about it, since the tub is outside and sometimes random kitties like to hang out on my back porch area.

The next day I checked and he was still there, so I brought out some dry cat food and shook the container a bit and out he came. He was skiddish at first, but then he let me pet him. He is so so sweet and he'll let you pet him as long as you want to. He'll rub and you and wind between your legs. What a sweet heart.

Sometime that day, Carmen found a collar behind the bushes next to our condos and thought it might be his, so she called the number on the tag. The lady said that yes, the Siamese was her kitty but that he was kind of mean so don't try to put the collar back on. She told Carmen to just leave the collar on her door knob and to shoo the cat away.

I can't believe anyone would think this adorable, sweet cat is mean. The lady came by and got the collar but I didn't bother to shoo him away. He's a sweety and as far as I'm concerned he can live on my back porch forever. I've been giving him dry food and water.

His name is Max according to the lady, but I may rename him to fit in with Meatwad and Beefcake. Any suggestions?

What I've been up to the past few days..

I've been so unmotivated to blog, but I am doing it now!!

Let's see.. last Thursday and Friday I worked all day at both my jobs.
Saturday I spent the day painting my dresser black, with a lot of help from Carmen. We had to sand it, spray paint it (yes, spray paint!), and then polyurethane it. It looks good though. Now my dresser and bed match! Yay!

Saturday night Carmen and I went out to a few different bars to see what the karaoke scene is like, since she'll be hosting karaoke at McGuire's Pub on Saturdays now. We started out at McGuire's, then went over to Randolph's, where all I heard all night was country music. Carmen sang a few songs, and then her, me, and this girl named Bonnie got up and sang "Bohemian Rhapsody". It was uber-melodious (in a not-so-much sort of way). After that we headed over to Fandango's, a little bar in Longview. Once we got there, they told us it was a $5.00 cover charge, so we left. Despite all these complaints, it was a really fun girl's night out. I drank 4 Rum & Diet Cokes. Just 4 little bitty drinks. Wasn't even that drunk. But still....

... I spent all day on Sunday with a hangover. Sheesh. I can't even drink 4 little drinks anymore without getting hungover. I'm old. And also, my Buccaneers lost their playoff game, meaning this is their 6th straight season with no playoff wins. :(

Sunday night I drove down to my mom's and Monday I spent all day at the hospital with her and in the waiting room while she had shoulder surgery. I got a lot of reading done and was exhausted by the time I headed home at 9:00. Her surgery went well though.

Tuesday I put my GPS skills to work and then last night was date night. We went to Carrabba's (YUMMY) and watched a movie at home.

And here's the big news:

I sewed a button on my pants last night with very very little help from anyone (Jared threaded the needle for me).

Yay me!

I will blogging later about the new cat in my life.

New Year

We were supposed to play poker Monday night. Brian, my old roomie, was going to come over and bring a guy or two and we were all going to play poker. So I call him Monday, and he was at work. Gah! Then Carmen has to go to some party with all these theater geeks. So Jared and I decide we're gonna have a psuedo date-night. As we were sitting on the couch relaxing deciding where we wanted to go to eat, we get a phone call.

From the Brush.

Begging us to come in and work. They were getting their figurative asses handed to them and needed us desperately to help out. Supposedly with 60 people on a wait.

So we went into work. I bartended and Jared manager-hosted. *sigh*. At least I made some moolah and got some needed excercise. But Still.

We got out of there around 11:15 and we were still hungry. So we went to Hooters. It was the least busy place and I wanted junk food. So we had a couple of drinks and wings and watched the ball drop at Hooters.

It really was pretty nice. There were only about 10 other customers in there and everybody was celebrating. I got my New Year's Kiss from my Jared.

Then we went home and drank some champagne in the hot tub. Good stuff.

And New Year's Day? I did nothing. Slept until 1:00. Went to the bank, and ate pizza delivery for dinner.

I love being lazy.

Tonight, my other old roomie Andrea is in town and we are going to El Paso! Ole!
