I highly recommend Carolina Beach for your next work conference.

I had an awesome time at my Beach conference last week! Best work conference I've ever been to. It started Wednesday with the golf tournament. Since I'm no golfer, I was kind enough to lend my good luck and follow the guys around in my cart offering support and going to get drinks for people. I got a lot of reading done.
Daniel and his hole.

Then we went to the hotel where I had an awesome view from my great hotel room!
the view from my room!

After checking in we all gathered at the dock to go on our super cool BYOB sunset boat cruise. I had the most fun here, enjoying nature and taking 100 pictures. I highly recommend doing this next time you go to the beach.
Sunset
Cloudage, with lovely water.
Pretty Clouds
real color.

Thursday until 5 was spent "working" and listening to a lot of GIS talk. That was cool, I learned a lot. Nothing to see though. Then we played beach volleyball and I learned how bad I am at it. It's easier if you're not short I guess.
Stephen serving up some awesomeness.
i love the ocean

After dinner, there was a "band" that played for us and Stephen got up and sang along with them to "Fire and Rain" and "Desperado". That boy can Wail. Needs to be the next American Idol.

Late Thursday night we all got together and played some Texas Hold Em Poker. I hadn't played in a while so I was itching to put together a game. We played for pretzels and tootsie rolls, and I ended up taking out half the boys and my boss. The game ended with me and Tina (my boss's wife) splitting the pot. Girls Rule.

Friday was more classes and then the long trek home where both at dinner and lunch they screwed up my food. Why? I'm not that picky. If I ask for a pizza with no feta, why put feta on it? If I order a Build Your Own Burrito with black beans, why put refried beans in it? Sheesh.

Anywho overall I had an amazing time. I love the beach. To see all my pics go here.

Then I got home to see AppState win, and my Buccaneers win again! Yay!

Falls..

This will probably be my only post this week. Wednesday I'm leaving at 5:00 a.m. to go to a "work conference" at Carolina Beach. I'm just so sad to be going away for 3 days. By the way, that was sarcastic. I think the real lowpoint will be the sunset cruise on Wednesday night. Did I mention that since I'm the only lady in the group I get my own hotel room (with an ocean view)? I only hope that since Katie won't be there to wake me up that I'll make it to the classes on time.

As a recap of the weekend:

-My beloved Mountaineers finally lost a game. It's their first loss since Sept. 2nd 2006. We all knew this day had to come, but it still hurts. I think maybe we all get a little too engrossed in our football team... I watched the first half of the game at home. Then, I went to work at the Brush and thankfully I was too busy to watch the second half. It was on TV in the bar and Jared was kind enough to keep an eye on the score for me. He was sad when he had to let me down with the bad news.

-At least since it was busy at the Brush all weekend, I made some money. Finally. I had a couple days last week when I was freaking out thinking I was going to have to take money out of my savings again, just to keep up with my checking. But somehow it worked out. I'm lucky in the sense that somehow, I always manage to get it worked out in the money department. Having two jobs really does make things a lot easier for me. That, and having Jared as a roomie/boyfriend. :)

-Tampa Bay won again! They're on a 2 game winning streak! It's a miracle that hasn't happened in a few years. I shouldn't get too excited. But it's been a LONG time since I've had a reason to celebrate my Buccaneers.

I love football way too much.

Old School Yosef.

Last night I finally got around to cleaning and organizing my under-the-stairs closet, which has previously been the catch-all junk pile. I have a literal mountain of straight-to-Goodwill junk. Going through one of my storage bins, I found an old friend I had forotten about:

This is the polo shirt I wore to my first Appalachian game. I was in the marching band. They had ordered a batch of polos with the new yosef logo, but they hadn't come in on time. So they gave us these classic beauties, which we only used for one game, and got to keep.

I didn't appreciate how cool it was back then, but I certainly do now. I'm wearing it today at my office, to show my Appalachian Pride.

*Warning!* Gynecology in Post!

This week I have a reason to be celebratory. For the first time since last May (2006!) I got to leave the girl doctor with the intention of not going back for a year!

Since finding "bad cells" last year, I have had to go back at least every three months. Sometimes I had to go back once a month. I went three times in June, and twice in July. I've had 2 different "minor tests" and one minor surgery, where I was placed under anesthesia. It sucked. And it was expensive. And somewhere in the midst of all that I was put on Yaz.

But now? As of Monday, I don't have to go back for a year! Yay! My doctor was as excited as me, I think. Not that she's happy not to see me or anything. I really like my doctor. She never makes me feel uncomfortable, not even in the "stirrups".

It's a strange thing when going to the girl doctor doesn't phase you because you're so used to it. Bleh.

Not anymore!
(Well, of course that is depending on the results from this past test. The last 4 have been normal, so I'm assuming this one will be too.)

It be talk like a pirate day! yarrr!! Can I shiver your timber?!

arrrr!! to celebrate, here be the ITLAP day website's top ten pirate pickup lines:
Top Ten Pickup lines for use on International Talk Like a Pirate Day
(We came up with these in an effort to interest The Other Dave (Letterman) in TLAPD. His staff liked 'em, but alas, his show was"dark" the week of Sept. 19.)

10 . Avast, me proud beauty! Wanna know why my Roger is so Jolly?

9. Have ya ever met a man with a real yardarm?

8. Come on up and see me urchins.

7. Yes, that is a hornpipe in my pocket and I am happy to see you.

6. I'd love to drop anchor in your lagoon.

5. Pardon me, but would ya mind if fired me cannon through your porthole?

4. How'd you like to scrape the barnacles off of me rudder?

3. Ya know, darlin’, I’m 97 percent chum free.

2. Well blow me down?

And the number one pickup line for use on International Talk Like a Pirate Day is …

1. Prepare to be boarded.

Finally! Other people see it too!

Some website made a list of the top 100 actors alive. My boyfriend Johnny Depp made number 12.

That other guy, Brad Pitt, who people love for some reason? Yea, he's number 54!

Full list here.

Great things that happened this weekend:

Friday night: It was busy at the Brush, in a good way! I was even offered a job by the manager of another restaurant who is looking for a "good bartender". When I told him I was flattered but that I couldn't leave just yet, he asked if there were any other bartenders at the Brush. I told him about Sam (the girl who started the rumors), he said "yea I've seen her. I guess I'll just look somewhere else." Ha! That means he thought I was better than her :D

Saturday: The Apps beat Northern Arizona, and are now 3-0. Woo! I spy a 3-peat! Too bad I wasn't there. It was Carmen's birthday, and we had some cooking out and partying to do. I made a few of the loveliest layered shots you've ever seen. I tried a Yosef (or as they call it, a "Black Gold") which is Jagermeister and Goldschlagger. It was.. well.. gross. Oh well. I only had about 4 drinks anyways but that was definitely the strongest!

Sunday: My Buccaneers finally won a game. For the first time in years, they actually DOMINATED the game. Of course, for some strange reason they let the Saints score twice in the second half, but they still won 31 to 14. WOO HOO!

Oh and of course the most awesome thing of all, it's finally getting cold again!! It was 60 degrees at 11:00 on Saturday night! Yay! That's when I get happy!

Let's hope the rest of this week is just as nice.

It's good to be in a great mood.

A Good Way to Spend My Next Tax Refund.

So guess where Jared and I will be staying in April?

That's right, the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas. His best friend and our General Manager at the Brush is getting married in Vegas in April. Since Jared is a groomsman, we will be there too.

Last night we finally got around to reserving our room. The Imperial Palace is right next door to Harrah's, where the bride and groom are staying. Their Luv Tub room has a big old hot tub and is fairly inexpensive (for Vegas) so that's what we went with!

I'm excited! Now if we could just get a cheap flight!

I'm Tired of Seeing Britney on my Blog.

After going through my blogroll this morning I had had enough of seeing Britney, so I made this for your viewing pleasure, using BIGHUGELABS!

A Few Random Things

First off, and I know I'm a little late with this, but really, why can't people leave Britney's VMA performance alone? I understand that she's a "train wreck" and possibly a "bad mother" and that she needs to wear underwear, but WHY do we have to call her fat?

Seriously, would you call this fat?

I mean really? I think it's ridiculous the standards people hold to female celebrities these days. Sure, she's not as skinny as she used to be, but she's definitely not fat. I'm not defending her music, her lifestyle, or her crazy wardrobe, but it just bothers me the way people think scrawny is hot.

Anywho...

Last Saturday I went up to Boone with Stephen, Katie, Daniel, Jeff & Tracy (all Appalachian alumni) and we tailgated for the ASU vs. Lenoir-Rhyne game. I had a lot of fun tailgating, but the actual game part was not fun. ASU has gotten itself so hyped up with promoting our awesome football team that now things are out of hand! To even see the field, my friend and I had to sit on the hill BEHIND the visitor's seats and hold on to a tree so we wouldn't slip down the hill in the dirt. It sucked. After the 1st quarter, when App was up 21 to 0, I decided to go find Katie and try to sit somewhere else. I found Katie but we didn't watch anymore of the game. I really hope that the next game I go to won't be as crowded, but I know it will :(. I'm also hoping that at the Western Carolina vs. Appalachian game (Western is our "rival"), that Jared, my Dad, and I will be able to actually watch the game. That would be fabulous.

I've already asked off for December 14th, which is the date of the I-AA (FCS)National Championship in Chattanooga. I know it's a bit early and I could be jinxing things, but I did the same thing last year and I actually got to go. So ha!

Let's see.. what else...
This weekend is Carmen's birthday, WOO! I will probably be working through her cookout, but hopefully I can get off from the Brush early enough to party a little bit.

Now that I've had some real bartender training from the Brush, I am anxious to make some fun layered drinks. We are getting a new drink menu but it doesn't start until sometime next week.

I can't wait to make (and try) a Dragon's Breath. It is a layered shot with Creme de Almond, Jager, and Bailey's. I know it sounds gross, but it's pretty and I want to try one. Also, we will have one called Black Gold that is Jager and Goldschlagger. I want to rename it Yosef. :)

Non-Football Related Post.. well, mostly.

Getting away from App football for today.

I'm going to take a page from one of my favorite blogger's book (literally!) and copy Mighty Girl today.

My Timeline:

1982: I was born 7 weeks early and almost killed my mom. I was a pretty sleepy baby and the parents and brothers didn't have to do much to make me happy.

Age 2: Still a perfect angel of a child, until I cut a hole in my bed skirt to let the kittens crawl under my bed. I also cut my bangs. And then I decided to give the big cat a haircut, and I cut off half of his ear.

Age 3: Begin Wee World preschool in Palmetto, Florida, discover boys. Paul Herback was my first crush.

Age 5: Start Kindergarten and discover more boys, but being a Ginger Kid can not actually catch boys.

Age 6: Family moves to North Carolina. I cried for a year about missing Florida. North Carolina is not as pretty, I thought. But then realized there were boys here too (Steve Coleman, at Aycock Elem)

Age 7: Get in trouble in 2nd grade. The boys in class convinced me to draw a picture of a naked lady. My teacher was not impressed. My mother was.

Age 11: 6th grade, first boyfriend. Chris Smith. For Christmas, I gave him a Carolina Panthers hat (it was their first year of playing) and he gave me a Green Jelly VHS.

Age 13: First Kiss, same boy, behind the dumpsters at Corriher Lipe Middle School. It wasn't what I expected. Nice, but, wet.

Age 14: Threw my first boy/girl party and played my first game of Spin the Bottle, where I had my first french kiss with Rory Miller. I inquired about his braces, which scratched my lips. Then I realized he didn't have braces, those were mine!

Age 15: Went through 3 different loser boyfriends and decide not to date boys anymore for a while and instead dress like a boy, with JNCOs and ugly t-shirts. Man was I irresistible to the lesbian world. Too bad.

Age 16: Fail driver's license test. Twice. NC DMV finally gives in after 3 tries and allows me to "legally drive". The DMV officer told me she still didn't want me to drive alone though. I probably should have listened since I totalled my first car 11 days later.

Age 17: Went to Woodstock 99 with B-rad. Realized after all the years of going to concerts and spending lots of money to get sweaty and smooshed and beat up by strangers, that I honestly don't enjoy concerts that much. Or maybe that's because I didn't drink at 17.

Age 18: Discover love the day after high school graduation. Discover college and alcohol. Discover real adulthood and independence. Discover life without Mom and brothers. Discover my Dad's helping hand. Discover serious, gut-wrenching heartache. Discover life goes on.

Age 25: Have real job, real car, real home, and real love.

Worth It?

Today: My face is peeling. The burn-your-retinas-bright sunburn I got at the Applachian vs. Michigan game is one of the worst I've had. Where it is peeling, the skin underneath is bright red, just like the burn was. The only spot on my face that isn't red is where I had a rub-on "A" tattoo on my cheek. It looked kind of cool on Saturday night after I took it off.

I just got my voice back yesterday. Now my glands on my neck are hurting like crazy. I guess from the screaming?

My bottom lip is swollen and so so so sore from being burnt. It hurts to eat or drink.

My head is killing me along with everything else.

And I'm so tired. Even though I went to bed earlier last night (only 1/2 an hour).

Was the biggest upset of college football history worth all this suffering?

Hell Yes.

beefcake is a bad boy.

This morning as I was putting in my contacts, Beefcake jumped up on the bathroom counter. I already had Rightie in and was picking Leftie up out of the solution. That is when Beefcake decided to get in my face and say "WHERE IS MY FOOD HO!?" I shooed him away and as he turned, his tail caught Leftie and sent it flying off into oblivion.

After searching and scouring (with one good eye) for a good 10 minutes (I was already late) I gave up and got a new Leftie out of the box. Unfortunately, this is my last Leftie.

My contacts are Torric for Astigmatism and cost $250.00 for a year's supply. That's 4 each of Leftie and Rightie. I got these in March. That means that this Leftie is going to have to last for 7 months. Yikes. I guess that's what happens when you tear one, then you decide you'll throw away a pair because they're "kind of blurry", and then you have a bad kitty that gets in your face.

I have 3 Righties left including the one I'm using currently. Why is it always the Leftie?

No bueno.

Getting Ready...

Preparing to leave for Michigan Friday morning...

The road ahead is long (10.5 hours).
The destination is a place that would terrify some people (the big house, the Wolverine stadium).
The benefits will be minimal (we're hoping to at least score on Michigan.)

Will it be worth it? Hell yes.

NEXT weekend...

When bored in a GIS environment, one finds themselves looking at Watauga County's ArcIMS website (it's like a county-wide GoogleMaps).

I found this lovely aerial image of ASU's Kidd Brewer Stadium (where I have spent a lot of time):

Then I thought, I should look at Michigan's Stadium, to see what it looks like, since I'll be there NEXT weekend.

Wow. What a difference a Top Ten School makes. Feeling very small going into this..

Love & Hate

5 things I hate about myself:
1. My eyesight. This includes my astigmatism, which is the reason I'm not supposed to get Lasik.
2. My inherited soft teeth. My smile may look pretty but I have more cavities than a cave.
3. My metabolism. It's a bitch.
4. My lack of motivation to actually DO anything I want to do. I would love to redecorate my home, to learn to paint, to get better at photography, to save up and go on an extravagant vacation...
5. My lack of motivation to stay in touch with people. I'm really bad about keeping up with my friends. I will never email my friends first, or call them first. Half the time I don't call people back. I hate to lose friends, but I also hate talking on the phone.

5 things I like about myself:
1. My hair, which now that I've figured out I don't have to blowdry, really makes me feel like I have something.
2. My eyes. I'm blessed with my mom's awesome brown eyes.
3. My luck. I know I seem to be down a lot on here, but actually I'm pretty lucky in life. I may be poor, but I survive and things often seem to work out for me (somehow).
4. My skin. So far, (I'm 25 years old) I have never had an acne problem. And I rarely ever wash my face at night. It could be attributed to the fact that I've rarely ever worn face makeup (other than eye stuff). Either way, I feel lucky in that sense.
5. My ability to pick out good friends. You know who you are.

What about ya'll?

I need another vacation.

Yesterday:
-Left work early, feeling sick in the head.
-Slept for hours.
-Woke up and went to grocery store so I could eat something.
-Realized I left my debit card in the ATM on Tuesday night.
-Paid for groceries with check. Will be 5-7 business days until I get a new card.
-Watched some tv and ate dinner.
-Jared got home and we had a discussion about the Brush that made me cry again.
-Went to bed with wicked awful headache.

Today:
-Don't feel any better, although the headache itself is gone.
-Have to work with both jobs. I can't justify not working at my real job and then going into the Brush (which I HAVE TO do)

Tomorrow:
-Working both jobs.

I'm off Saturday, when I'll be going to a coworker's 30th birthday party. This is the only thing I'm looking forward to about this weekend. It'll hopefully be enough to return me to my normal self.

Then I'm working again on Sunday night, and both jobs on Monday. Favoritism, my ass. Dating the manager leads to working extra so that he's not severely understaffed. :(

Touchdown!

Warning: This post is about Football.

Even though I had a pretty God awful week with "As the Brush Turns" (as Joan calls it) (which I am getting over now, I think..), I had something to smile about on Friday night.

Football season is back, and my beloved Buccaneers won their first preseason game against the New Egland Patriots. Yesss! This year is going to be a bit different since a) my favorite player is definitely (well 99%) sure he won't be playing ever again due to neck injury number 5,4039u4093. And b) they fired one of their best defensive players and he's NOT happy about it.

My beloved Buccaneers won the Superbowl in 2002, and since then they have yeilded nada. They barely made it into the playoffs once since then, but it was mostly technicality. I say it every year, but this will be the year they come back!

If only they could pull things off like the Mountaineers! Two Championships in a row, and this year looks just as good for them. Why? Because they have pretty much the same lineup of fantastic players.

Why is it when the Bucs won their superbowl, they traded half their good players? The team that WON them the championship is now all but gone as only 3 of the great ones are left, and one is on neck injury number 5,23980980.

I love football season. I have 2 fantasty football teams (which will be drafting next week), one awesome college football team to watch (Appalachian) and one mediocre pro football team to watch.

And I love it all!!!

I'm too nice?

Sometimes I wonder if I'm too nice. I wonder if I'm a pushover who will do anything to make other people happy. I know that's not totally true because sometimes I tell my friends "no" to stuff I don't want to or can't do. But today my coworkers and I were talking about arguing with their boyfriends and how they argue. I started thinking about how I argue and I realized I have no idea. Why? Because I don't ever argue with people. Ever. It's not that I'm never mean or anything (I've yelled at strangers before... while I'm driving... once...) but I just don't remember the last time I argued with anybody.

Jared and I don't argue, we have deep discussions. I realize that this may change sometime in the future, but for now it is how we are. I never argue with my friends because usually if I don't agree with them about something, I mull it over until I decide it isn't worth arguing over. And usually it isn't. There just isn't much in this world that I find is worth arguing over. I guess maybe I'm just a big ole pacifist. What's wrong with that? Nothing.

Once when I was 12 at summer camp, I got into a "fight" with another girl in my cabin. This girl was, well, a 12 year old bitch. She was one of those girls that you just know when she grows up nobody will like her, but they'll all be nice to her out of fear. For some odd reason I decided to stand up to her. Everyone else in the cabin, who felt the same way as me and was supposed to have my back, pretended they didn't know what was going on. Then she hit me. Twice, in the arm. I don't know why, but I didn't hit her back. It didn't hurt, so I shrugged her off. I've always wished I had hit her back, but I didn't and I guess that's how I've always been. I've never hit another person out of anger (except my brothers, and that doesn't count).

Maybe I am a pushover, but I'm happy. I don't have a problem with compromising so that my friends are happy. I thought that generally everybody liked me. I don't mean that to sound snotty or anything, but I can't name anyone who would count me as an "enemy" or who doesn't like me.

At least that's what I thought.

This past weekend, while Jared and I were at the beach, the "mafia" as it is called, at the Brush, decided to start rumors about him and I. See, Jared is the "assistant" manager. We have been dating since way before he ever became a manager. It has never been a problem that he is dating me though. Not until this weekend. See there are 3 girls who work there who have crappy lives. Why? Because they put themselves into stupid situations. Since they are unhappy with life, they resent people who are happy, like me. For the past 3 weeks we have been seriously understaffed at the Brush, and everyone has had to work extra, myself included. Now since I had paid for our beach trip 2 months ago, I wasn't going to back out on it just because the Brush needed people. So we went. Which means pretty much everyone else had to work. The thing is, it was a weekend so everyone has to work anyways. One girl had asked off for Friday night. The reason? Because she had taken off of her day job and just wanted to be off to do nothing. No excuse, just that. So Jared denied her request. And we went to the beach. I guess that made her mad because she and the other two "mafia" members decided to tell our big boss that Jared and I were always playing favorites. And that we were always "making out" in the salad cooler.

I can count the number of times we have "made out" in the salad cooler on less than one finger. I guess to the unknowing eye it might look like he plays favorites with me. But he doesn't. See, Jared doesn't let me get away with ANYTHING. If I was to slack on something, he wouldn't hesitate to tell me. Also, when we are short handed and he needs me to work an extra night or two, he always begs me to work. And I usually do. We have mutual respect for each other in that way. I don't get away with anything, but I don't try to get away with anything.

Also, I'm nice to everyone there. I have never done a mean or spiteful thing to anyone who works with me. That's why I don't understand hateful people.

Luckily, our head boss didn't really believe the rumors. She did ask a couple people about it, who she knew wouldn't lie, and they both told her the truth (which is that nothing goes on).

Now I know that most people are going to tell me to quit. But that would just be giving up. We were both pretty pissed about these rumors. Rather than succomb to these rumors and try to act like we are not dating even though everyone knows we are, we're going to act like nothing happened at all. In fact we were thinking of making it blantantly obvious that we couldn't care less. That's what I'm trying to do. I'm going to be as bitchy to them as I can, while still being overly sweet and not caring about stupid stuff.

We'll see what happens this weekend.

Bizeach

Um, so when did going to the beach become more about the touristy stuff than the actual beach? It's like that because it's too freaking hot to actually spend that much time on the beach. Our hotel room was right across the street from the beach, which was nice. Only problem was the bugs. There was this strange purple bug with white legs that kept crawling around in our room. The guy at the hotel claims there is nothing to be done about them because it's the beach, but that they won't hurt us. I still don't like it. I somehow manage to get a little sleep all three nights, even though I'm constantly worried I'll find one crawling on me in my sleep. I didn't. On the way Jared confessed he woke up 2 times with them crawling on him in the bed. Grr.

But other then that bit of South Carolina-ness, our trip was great. We did the usual touristy stuff:
-Went to Hard Rock Cafe
-walked around the "strip" in south myrtle
-went the awesome Ripley's Aquarium (with the walk through shark tank)
-walked around Broadway at the Beach (shopped)
-walked around Barefoot Landing (shopped)
-went to Dick's Last Resort and were insulted
(they made me a hat that said "It's true what they say about Redheads)
(Jared's hat said "She has my balls in her purse" hehehe)
-had our picture taken with a baby tiger (all proceeds supposedly go to T.I.G.E.R.S. tiger habitat)
-hung out on the beach

And we did one really cool non-touristy thing, we went to a Myrtle Beach Pelicans game. This was especially cool because it was Friday night, they won, and they had great fireworks afterwards.

The best part was of course being with the Jared. We didn't get annoyed with each other, snippy, or emotional (I'm a cryer), the whole time! Just happy. :)

Four Days In South Carolina

Anyone who knows me knows I am not a fan of the state of South Carolina. I know this is awful, because it's a state, and it's part of the US, but let's not forget that SC didn't always want to be a part of the US. And also, They just wish they were North Carolina. Can't even get their own football team. Sheesh.

I know that some poor people are unfortunate enough to be born in South Carolina. While I feel for these people, I also don't understand why they don't move away as soon as they are old enough. And people who move there? What is that? Okay, I can understand moving there for important (and temporary) reasons, like law school. But moving there for any other reason? Why?

The last experience I had in SC was in Charleston where got rained on all day, then got stuck in an hours-long traffic jam on the way home. I am going to SC tomorrow to go to the beach. I know that SC will probably treat me bad, but I am giving it a chance.

Addiction

Anybody else ever get addicted to Discovery Channel? When I was in high school I was got so addicted that I called in sick to my pizza job and sat there all night watching a special about giant squids. Of course this was before DVR and I hated taping things off the tv. When my mom got home and realized what was going on she dragged me away from the tv and we went out. I realize this isn't a huge big deal but honestly, that channel is SO good.

I have since then been really careful about how much DC I watch. Yesterday I was in Durham at Brad's (my other best friend) house nursing a hangover and cramps and sat on his couch watching four hours of Discovery Channel. It is the beginnning of Shark Week, which makes for great tv. I love sharks, but I fear them tremendously, which is why I force myself to look at pictures of them and watch videos of them. Although I do wish Shark week didn't coincide with the beach trip I am leaving on this Thursday.

Anywho it got to be 5:00 and I still had to drive the 2.5 hours to get back to Hickory and my cats so I dragged myself away. But darnit, I want to watch more Shark Week!!

We are here, we are waiting..

I would love nothing more than to sleep for like four days right now. That would be the best thing to happen to me. Last night Jared and I went to see Transformers. It was a pretty good movie, but there was definitely some stupid parts to it. I mean, Optimus Prime was kind of a wus, and they made his voice just sound ridiculous. It's okay though because Shia Labeouf's hotness makes up for it. I definitely have a crush on that little guy. His personality in the movie is almost Jaredish.

Tonight the plan is to go buy Brad a birthday present and to do as little after that as possible, except maybe a nap. Why I can't I get sleep? Well, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night I was buying/reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Monday night I had to fill in on Jared's bowling team, which starts at midnight and takes 2 hours. I was also finishing Harry Potter (which is decidedly friggin awesome by the way). Then yesterday I had to GPS which drains me of energy.

ergh. I need a vacation. Good thing I'm going to the beach next week. yay beach!

I would just like to make one more comment on Harry Potter: JK Rowling is a genius and deserves a nobel prize for literature. So SO SO awesome. I cried on four seperate occasions while reading the book. That means it's good. There were even moments when I laughed out loud (like when Mrs. Weasley calls Bellatrix LeStrange a Bitch). That was great. Don't worry, I won't say anymore since I know some of my friends are still reading (Jared's just started book 2).

Tonights the night!!! I'm so excited!!! Too bad I don't really have a lot of time to read this weekend. Too bad I'm SO tired today that I'm not sure if I'll have the energy to go by Barnes and Noble to get my book tonight.

I have had several oppurtunities to read spoilers, and pictures of the book, in the past couple of days. But I have restrained myself. I feel it's worth it. :)

always a bridesmaid.. or.. something like that...

What is the deal with all my friends either getting married or engaged? Carmen got married a month ago. My old roommate Andrea got engaged this past weekend to Dave, who she's been dating for 5 years. This morning I got to work in Lenoir, and my friend Adrienne is engaged! I think I'm the only person left of all of my (girl)friends who is not married or engaged. Really.

But you know what? I don't care. I really don't think I could handle marriage right now. And even if I could, I'm just as happy with Jared living with me. Marriage is a lot of pressure, and it's an excuse. An excuse for what? To have babies. And I'm certainly not ready for that. And I know, as soon as I get married, I'm going to want to have a baby.

Good thing I have Jared to keep me in check. We have talked about it and will wait a while. Which is damn good. Because even if I for some crazy reason did think I was ready, he's not. That is a good balance system. There's no way it would work with one person who is ready and one who is not.

Oh. And I swear to God if anyone read the leaked version of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows and decides to ruin the ending for me, I will hunt you down and kill you. Or at least be very very very angry with you.

Spiritualized.

Ever since I can remember I have associated my grandparents with church. Anytime we went to visit them, we knew we would be going to church. If I think hard enough, I can probably count easily the number of times I've been to church without my grandparents. The most vivid memory of going to church with my grandparents is my grandmother's singing. Every time a hymn was sang, she sang along. My cousins and I would often talk about Grandma's singing. See the thing is, it wasn't pretty. It was loud and very high pitched, almost shrill. My cousin Alicia did a pretty spot on impression of Grandma.

At the funeral on Thursday morning in a tiny little funeral home in Valdosta, Georgia, the choral group from Grandma's church was there singing. They began by singing some pretty song about memories and stuff. My 8 month old second cousin was happily bouncing along and giggling. Then as they reached the 3rd chorus, I closed my eyes and thought about Grandma's singing. I suppose it could have been the power of suggestion, but as I sat there listening, I could have sworn I heard her, over all the rest, singing loudly, and very high pitched. I laughed in spite of myself and, as I turned my tear-streaked face to my cousin, she said very softly "I can hear Grandma singing."

We smiled at each other and I glanced at my Dad who was sitting on the row in front of me with his three sisters. I distinctly heard him whisper something to my Aunt Darinda about "Momma's singing". Apparently we all heard it, because later on in the day, my brother Alan, who was sitting in the back with his daughter Elora, told me he could have sworn he heard Grandma singing at the funeral.

So..

grandma and madelyn

My grandmother passed away last night at the age of 77, having suffered a stroke and a brain tumor. She was the matriarch of my family and I'll miss her. She could tell you the name of every single tree, flower or bird from here to California (trust me, I know).

I'll be in Georgia with no internet for the next few days.

Happy 5th of July!

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July! It's always been my favorite holiday, and yesterday was no exception. It's a great holiday because it's a great excuse for everyone to just relax, have fun, bbq some meat, and light things on fire.

Jared's brother Josh lives on the lake (lake Hickory) in Taylorsville so he has an annual 4th of July bash. I was invited this year so yesterday Jared and I went and we had a ball. His sister, brother, 20ish of his brother's friends, and Jared's friends Jeff and Misty were all there.

We watched the most exciting Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest ever! I still can't believe Kobayashi was finally taken out! I'm just glad an American finally won it.

Then we lounged around, talking, munching, watching some tube when we needed to cool off, laid in the hammock, shot off a big ole potato gun (and almost hit some lake passer byers) played on the giant black slip-n-slide:

which ended with a kiddie pool.

This was a lot of fun for the guys, and would have been a lot of fun for me, had i not been wearing jeans. But by the time I went inside and changed into my swim bottoms, they were done playing on it. Jared had fun though:

There was also a homemade zip-line that ended in the lake, but we both opted out of that one.

Believe it or not, I actually got in the lake for a little bit. Jared's sister Amy has pictures! I wasn't going to at first, due to my aversion to swimming in water where I can't see my feet, especially lake water, but I was talked into it. I didn't want to be the odd woman out. It was highly gross, but also a little bit fun. I'm just glad my honey was there to hang onto so my feet touched the slimy bottom as little as possible.

Eventually they grilled and we had yummy pork chops, hamburgers and hot dogs. After watching the hot dog eating contest and seeing Kobayashi toss his um.. hot dog back up, I opted out of eating a hot dog.

Finally around 9:00 it was dark enough for people to start playing with fireworks. The only ones we had were a few bottle rockets that I pulled out of my car. Other than that we just watched the 20 or so other parties around and on the lake shooting off their fireworks. It was so nice.

Of course today I'm tired and sunburnt, but we had a great time.

Hearts

Woohoo! After trying about 80 million times since I taught myself how to play last week, I finally won a game of Hearts!

(I use a fake name since I'm at work. Today, it was Joan)

skankness

Well I had a pretty boring weekend unless you count going to a skanktacular strip club with Jared and a few others on Friday night, and then going to dinner with the ex on Sunday night. Saturday I did not leave the house except to take Beefcake to get his rabies shot. He is 4 pounds now but the vet thinks he is too skinny. I am doubling his food now, and I keep Meatwad out while he is eating.

I have been feeding Cheddar, Carmen's cat, this week while she is on her honeymoon in the Caribbean. I am also feeding her plants, and trying desperately not to kill them. Why am I so terrible with plants? The tomato plant is browning even though I am watering it everyday. And their pet plant, the carnivorous one, is looking sad too. They'll be home tomorrow and I'm hoping it holds on long enough for Jon to save it.

Last night I got jealous over something stupid. Why do I continue to get jealous when I know Jared is totally committed to me? I trust him, but I don't trust other girls. I'm just weird I guess. But everything is fine. It's weird how I don't get jealous at the strip club but I get jealous with girls I know. hmm.

Bad News

I almost had to kick Jared out last week. He had already moved everything in, and we were slowly putting things away in places. On my footstool, after moving some towels and such, I found Jared's CDs. In a panic, I rifled through the pages of CDs looking for what I hoped he had left out. Passing through Tantric and Shinedown, I finally found what I had not been hoping to find:

I almost had to kick jared out.

Yes, that's right, a Creed CD. *Shudder*

A few months ago after I had expressed my deep dislike for the band Creed, Jared quietly confessed to me his deepest secret, that he owned a Creed CD. It took a lot of work, emotionally and physically to still accept him and love him, but I got over it and I warned him never to bring it into our house.

And then he did.

At first I panicked. I didn't know what to do. I told him he was evil for doing it. I had a genius plan to get Beefcake to poo on it. That didn't work out because after a minute I got tired of holding Beefcake there. After several attempts to get rid of it, I've finally accepted that it is there. I am okay with it, as long as he never, ever plays it on any CD player in the house. Or in my car.. ew.

The fact is, he doesn't like them anymore, and he is embarrassed he still has it in there. I guess everyone has embarrassing CDs left over from long ago.

Here are some I found rifling through my CDs:

-Coneheads movie soundtrack (come on, who doesn't love Tainted Love by Soft Cell?)

-Insane Clown Posse (they were pretty funny... 10 years ago..)

-Limp Bizkit (to be fair, it was a gift and I've never listened to the whole CD)

-Marilyn Manson Remix & Repeat (uh, I don't know)

-Savage Garden (That guy was kind of hot.)

-The Prodigy Experience (um, it was, um... free?)

and the most embarrassing
-N*Sync's Girlfriend, the Remix featuring Nelly (I didn't include No Strings Attached on this list because it is a great CD and I will defend that to the death)

These are pretty bad. Hey, at least I don't have Hanson's MMmBop. .... .. anymore.....

What are your embarrassing CDs?

Florida Pictures

I finally finished uploading my Florida pictures:
Florida

All in all Mom and I had a great time. It is always good to vacation once in a while. Seeing my Grandpa was nice since you never know how long they'll be around. He's 91 and sharp as a tack and still downright funny. I hope he and his wife enjoyed having us as much as we enjoyed being there. You never know.

And it was really nice to spend that time with my mom. It's amazing how much I resented her in high school, for pretty much no real reason at all. She is who she is and I should have been more accepting of her. But I guess that was just me being a teenager. It's good that we can be friends.

Driving a new Mustang Convertible

After Hertz Car Rental's first rental broke down, this is what I drove back to the airport (where we missed our plane)

Hot Hot Hot

Ah, it's good to be home. Good old North Carolina. Nothing makes you appreciate 88 degree weather more than spending 3 days in Florida. The humidity is so bad it makes my hair stick straight up and then it drips from the roots.

Pictures/More blog to come, as soon as my tired body recovers some more and I get around to posting the other half of my pictures.

Carmen and Jon, June 19th 2007

My best friend Carmen got married last night!
wedding

It was awesome. Just Carmen, Jon, Edith (the preacher), Jared, and me, on a rooftop in downtown Hickory. It rained a little, but that just added to the charm. We had to climb up a ladder and out of a hole to get to the roof, but it was fun.

I can tell this is gonna last forever.

The one with the What Ifs...

Sometimes I wonder how different my life would be if I had taken different steps in life. Like, what if I had chosen to go to UNCG instead of Appalachian? Would I have ventured into Geography? Probably not. I would probably be teaching history somewhere in the Triangle area of NC. I would probably be closer with Brad but rarely ever see Carmen. I obviously would never have met some of my friends here, like Katie and Andrea and Stephen. And I certainly wouldn't know Jared. I probably wouldn't be a home owner yet because I wouldn't have had Andrea's homeowner influence. I wouldn't have my two awesome kitties, because apartments generally don't like that. I'm sure I would have found some guy to hang around with, maybe date, but I bet he wouldn't be permanent. I'd probably be driving a different car too, because I would most likely not have picked a Saturn. Why not? Because the reason I picked a Saturn was from driving my brothers to and from Hickory while he was away at boot camp. I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to commute to Greensboro from Kannapolis.

What if I had gone to App, but hadn't chosen break up with Joe F? He was a nutcase, but he was crazy about me. I was into him too, but I took him for granted. In the end the religion and jealousy got in the way. But what if I had been mature enough to handle things differently and to actually give some back instead of refusing to change any? Would I have married him? Would he have gone to medical school like he said he would? Would I be one of those yuppy doctor's wives (not to say that all doctor's wives are yuppies, but I bet I would be) who ended up completely resenting her husband for never being around and then ultimately cheating on him? Would we have kids? Would they be nuts like him? I bet I would have even quit my job and been a stay at home mom. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I would much rather be a stay at home mom than send my kids to daycare, but that's a long way down the road.

What if I had gone to App and did end up in Hickory, but never worked at the Brush? I wouldn't be able to afford a mortgage. I would probably move from Andrea's into a crappy apartment now that she's leaving. I wouldn't have my two awesome kitties. I would be poor all the time (not like that's any different). I would have a lot less friends. I would go out a lot more and spend all my money on beer and stuff. I wouldn't be able to afford clothes or any of my fun accessories. I would never get to go on vacation. And I certainly wouldn't know Jared... Or would I? Would our paths have crossed if we didn't work together? Would I randomly meet him at a bar one night? What would I have thought of him if I just saw him on the street? I probably wouldn't have taken a second glance. Nor would he. I'd probably still be stuck with old what's his name from 2 years ago. Or I'd still be dating boys off the internet *shudder*.

The point is, I'm happy with my choices. I'm happy I went to Appalachian. I'm happy I broke up with Joe F. I'm happy I work at the Brush, and I'm happy I'm doing what I'm doing. Now, what step do I take next?

good gravy.

Howdy yall.
I'm having a much better week than last week.

So far, I have not injured myself in any way.
I have not accidentally charged my card with an $1100.00 charge that would put me $900.00 in the hole.
I have not had any tummy aches that would rival the plague.

So far, Jared's completely moved in (as of today).
I had a sweet ass time in Durham, NC visiting my best friend Brad.
brad pimping the go-cart cart at target.
I finally finished Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
I magically got out of having to work last night so I had time to get some cleaning done at my house.
I made it to and from Durham in 2 hours (each way), without going more than 7 over the speed limit.
Tonight I'm going to finish putting Jared's stuff away.
This weekend, my mom and I are flying to Florida to visit my grandfather!
My flickr friend Kari is going to be a mommy!!! Congratulate her!
Tomorrow night is a huge night as it is Carmen's Wedding night!

Things are only going to keep getting better from here.

Mugblood

So, for the past few months, I've been re-reading the Harry Potter books to get ready for the new movie and final book. I was speeding along pretty fast with The Sorcerer's Stone (book 1), The Chamber of Secrets (book 2) and The Prisoner of Azkaban (book 3). About 3 weeks ago I started on The Goblet of Fire. It feels like I've been reading it for 2 years. I've read it before and I knew most of the story, but since the movie leaves things out and I wanted to remember them for the next book, I needed to read it all the way through. This book is not as good as the others. It is so. long.

Yesterday I finished reading the part where he gets back to the tournament after meeting with Voldemort. I totally thought I was going to finish it yesterday. Then I kept reading. And kept reading. Curious, I looked at the page numbers on the page I was on and the last page and realized I still had 50 pages to go. 50!! and I was already past the climax of the story. The resolution takes more than 50 pages! arrgh!

I know I've read it before and should have remembered it was so long, but I didn't. I hope tonight I have time in between my two jobs to finish it off. I'd really like to finish reading the last 2 before July 21st when Harry Potter and The Deathly Hollows (the last book!!) comes out. I'm a slow reader. I never could get all my BookIt! star stickers.

ugh

Last night was Tuesday. Tuesday is date night around my house. It's the only night Jared and I have off together so we always spend it together. Other people may or may not join us but we are still together.

Usually we go out and do something. We had planned to go to the Crawdad's game last night, but it rained so we nixed that. Then, we decided to just stay home, watch movies and order delivery. Since we had had pizza a couple of days earlier, we were going to use delivery chef. The problem with that is that the only place that has good dinner type food, it's way way expensive. So I ended up going to pick up take out at Texas Roadhouse.

After eating and watching a movie we were snuggling on the couch deciding what movie to watch next when all of a sudden, I got the worst.tummy-ache.ever. I was sweating and cringing. Jared almost had to carry me upstairs so I could lay in bed. After writhing in the dark for a while, I convinced him to go buy me some Pepto. This made me feel mostly better, but still out of it. I didn't move a whole lot after that, other than taking out my contacts. Nothing ruins a date night like an alien inside your tummy trying to escape (at least that's what it felt like).

Jared is so sweet when he wants to be :)

In other sad news, Mr. Wizard died. Did anyone else LOVE his show as a kid?

Bad kitty! Caught white handed!

It was dark and he didn't see me coming around the corner with a flash!

Beefcake!!

Beefcake is getting big, and rowdy. For example, yesterday as I was preparing his food, the plate where I was dishing out his wet food was on the edge of the counter. While rinsing off the spoon, Beefcake jumped several feet into the air and tried to get to this plate of food. Instead, he knocked the plate off onto the floor, breaking it. I stood there stunned for a second while he scarfed down food that was amidst a broken glass plate. After a second, I grabbed him up and pushed him into the next room. Turns out the plate luckily broke into only 3 fairly large sized pieces. I sleepily (did I mention this was 7:45 in the morning?) scraped the icky food off of the floor and threw it away.

He is a rambunctious little kitty to say the least. He LOVES to play. Poor Meatwad can't escape the kitten's wrath. Ne'er a moment goes by when Beefcake isn't after Meatwad's tail. The only times he isn't are bath time. That is what makes my heart melt. They curl up together on the couch and start bathing away. Cute!

The point is, it is most certainly a fun adventure so far with a one year old and a three month old kitten. I love my boys.

What's goin down, Charlie Brown?

What's been going on with me lately?

I had an awesome day Saturday. It started out at 7:00 am when I had to be at the Brush for a mandatory meeting with all employees. I would have tried to argue my way out of this, but since my boyfriend is my boss, it didn't seem appropriate. Well, it was over and I was home by 10:00 when I took a most excellent nap.

Then at 5:00 Katie and Daniel came to see me and Beefwad. Then, it was off to Charlotte for Taste of Charlotte and The Oyster Fest. We had a great time walking around in the rain and trying fun and yummy food. We got to meet Potter, Bandy, and Matt from 107.9 the Link. Matt and Bandy were a total hoot and may or may not have been a little tipsy. Speaking of tipsy, Katie and I may have had a few.. At about 9:00 we headed over to Dixie's Tavern for the Oyster Fest, which is a concert by Coyboy Mouth. They are always awesome. It was raining and we were absolutely soaked, but it was a great time. When we finally got back to the car at 12 after a long walk in the rain, I was a little tipsy and was convinced I lost my phone. So, reluctantly, Katie and I headed back out in the rain to try and find it. Daniel drove the car next to us and after a minute we gave up and got back in the car, where I found my phone in my purse, where I had JUST put it. I am a total goober.

It wouldn't have been too terrible losing my phone though, since on Monday I finally got a new one! I bought an LG Chocolate, a Mint Chocolate, which is simply the coolest phone ever. It's beautiful and it takes great pictures:

Also, it works like an MP3 player holding songs and stuff. I haven't been able to put any mp3s on it yet, but I will.

Then yesterday was completely awesome because Jared's sister Amy came out from Canton (which is an hour away) to visit us! We met up with their other brother, Josh (who lives in Taylorsville) for dinner at Backstreets and I think his brother is finally starting to warm up to me.

All in all I've been having a pretty good time lately. Other than of course being sick on Monday and having a moving mess going on at my house. But that's worth it since Jared is moving in!

Anywho...

Allison's Favorite Things.

Okay, I'm going to be a dork and copy Eddie and Pigs and do a favorite things post. My favorite things may seem odd to you, or they may seem perfectly natural. Feel free to copy me, who copied them, at any time.

Dove Cool Moisture Body Wash. It's like bathing in the freshest water and getting a moisturiffic massage. And it makes me smell so good! I'm also a big fan of the St. Ives Body Wash but that's getting harder and harder to find.

Simply Orange. I'm not usually an orange juice drinker, but that stuff just plain rules. Exactly the right amount of pulpage. And tastey! mmmmm mmm!

Method Cucumber hand soap. Environmentally friendly hand soap the smells superbly yummy and gets my hands clean? Yes, please!

Style Network. Unfortunately with my switch from cable to the dish I don't get this anymore.. and I mourn that loss quite often. Oh how I miss Niecy Nash and Clean House. TLC will have to fill in for me. Not quite as good, but it'll do.

DVDs. I am addicted to DVDs. I have probably 150 of them and Jared has another 60ish so we are never without a movie to watch. Of course lately, all we've been buying are 80s movies, like Karate Kid and Rocky, Volumes 1 thru 4.

These awesome shoes. 18 dollars at JC Penneys! They make me feel so pretty! I LOVE them.

My new Avett Brothers CD, Emotionalism, which is majorly great. (yes, Sam, emo for short)

And finally, Facebook. It's like Target and Myspace is WalMart. It's more sophisticated, more environmentally friendly, and it doesn't cost you anything more. Plus it's not blocked at my office, like Myspace.

Memorial Day

Gas to drive from Hickory to Carowinds and back: approximately $20.00

Parking at Carowinds: $10.00

Two adult park admissions with coupon to Carowinds: $70.00

Beer, Powerade that was supposed to be coke, and locker for clothes while swimming at Carowinds: $13.00 + $4.50 + $12.00 = $29.50

Wearing your swimsuit for the first time in public and truly not giving a damn whether or not anyone is looking at you because you know your beloved thinks you're beautiful: priceless.

Jared and I had a grand old time being young and in love at Carowinds on Monday. I hope your Memorial Day was equally as great.

brangelina

You know how celebrity gossipers love to give celebrity couples joint names to save time? For example, Brangelina for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Bennifer, Witherppe (not anymore), and Vaugniston, etc.

I've decided to do this when talking about my cats. Instead of saying "Meatwad and Beefcake" I would like to either call them "Meatcake" or "Beefwad". Which do you like best?

p.s. I totally loved Pirates.

Friday, May 25, 2007

hurrah!

I am officially cable free! yay!

Oh, and NO I didn't go see Pirates of the Caribbean last night. Alas, the second job gets in the way occasionally, even though I am only working 2 days a week. Yes, I could have just gone to the midnight show, but, as some of you may know, there are very very few things I value more than a good night's sleep. I can just as easily go to the midnight show tonight (after work).

The house I grew up in is for sale, and I'm so crazy that Carmen and I are going to look at it on Sunday. Not to buy it, but just to look around and see how things have changed, and to see if things I remember from childhood are still the same. I do feel bad for telling the realtor I was interested in moving to Kannapolis, but she'll be okay.

Wednesday, May 23, 2007

the avett brothers, my favorite band.

My favorite band, the avett brothers, are finally on the Billboard's Top 200!
Yay! And I love the new album! Go buy it. Emotionalism is the name of it. You can buy it on Itunes too. Go buy it!

ME!

What's going on with me lately?
Well there's all of the obvious that you know about, new car, new cat, new roomie.
The sad thing about it all is that everything happened at once, and now there isn't anything going on. Well, Jared's still in the process of moving in, but he is more or less there already.

This past weekend I was off all weekend. I had taken Friday night off from the Brush so that I could go to the office putt-putt tournament. Then I realized that this putt-putt tournament, which is usually more of a cookout/excuse to drink with a little bit of putt-putt on the side, was this year going to be an actual putt-putt-oriented excursion with no cookout and only a few people there. Since Jared and I were both going to be off work, and he couldn't even participate in the tournament anyways (since he's not an employee at my office), we decided to have a date-night instead. Outback and movies. Yum-my.

Saturday and Sunday I did nothing but sleep and watch tv. I feel so lazy. It seems like all I want to do here lately is be lethargic. I do manage to do the minimum of housework (laundry, dishes, litter-box cleaning) but that's about it. Blurh. That's what I have to say to real housework!

harry potter and cavemen.

First off, as I've been re-reading my Harry Potter books, I'm getting more and more excited for the movie and the new book to come out! I kind of wish they weren't both coming out right at the same time. That just may be a sensory overload. What I mean is, I'd totally be okay with the movie coming out right now :D I almost forgot how magically addicting the Potter series is.

When I reread the first two books, I wasn't that excited because I've read them before and I've seen both of those movies so many times. But now that I'm onto the third book, I'm remembering things that I had forgotten since the first time I read them, which was right before the last book came out. It's hard to believe a book series meant for children can be so intriguing for people of all ages. I'm so excited!!! Giddy almost. Okay, giddy.

Secondly, I have barely seen any press for the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. It comes out next Friday. NEXT FRIDAY! I haven't even been counting down! I don't even have my ticket yet! I feel like less of a fan. I blame the media.. yea...

Lastly, I have heard rumors, but I was hoping they weren't true because I just didn't know how I would handle it. They are actually making a comedy tv show about the Geico commercial Cavemen. It's just called "Cavemen". I love those commercials, but I'm not sure how the show will do. I mean, there is such a thing as "too much of a good thing". I just know I'm going to want to compare them to Phil Hartman's Caveman lawyer from Saturday Night Live. I would totally link to a video if YouTube wasn't blocked at my office. Just know it's one of the awesomest skits ever. Anywho, IMDB has a few pictures from the show already. Get ready because I have feeling it's either going to flop or be a huge phenomenon.

Roommate.

So, when I starting telling people that Jared is officially moving in with me, I got a lot of positive and negative feedback. Most people are happy for me, as I have been wanting this for a while now. Then are those party poopers who like to remind me of all the negatives.

Cons:
*If we break up, it'll be a giant nasty mess
*We both have a LOT of stuff for my tiny condo
*He wants a dog, I have 2 cats
*We're not married, so we have to be quiet about this around all grandparents
*People are now going to look at me as if I am some sort of Jezebel
*My friends might start to think I'm not there for them anymore

Pros:
*We are going to both be able to SAVE money now
*We will, obviously, be able to find out if we can live with each other long term.
*We are serious. Damn it
*I'm scared, but I'm brave, and I'm strong, and I know this is right

I guess the moral of the story is, there's no way that everyone I know will be okay with this. Jared is moving in with me.

New Addition

Well I brought home Meatwad's new brother, Beefcake, on Saturday. It was an eventful day. As soon as I got him home, I lost him for 3 hours. After having completely torn apart my house looking for him, I finally found him about 2 feet from where I lost him, under a dresser I didn't know he could get under. Poor little guy was stunned. I brought him out and we hung out on my couch and took a nap together for a few hours. So far he is NOT a fan of Bertha, Carmen's dog. He hissed and spit at her. He has hissed at Meatwad a few times, but now they are playing, I think. Meatwad seems to be heartbroken and pissed off. I think he's really mad at me. He won't let me pet him at all now, even though I bought him a shiny new toy at PetSmart. I hope he gets over that.

Beefcake is adorable and very active. Very Fast. Very Cute. Very Fun. And it really is cute to see him attack Meatwad's tail. :) I love him already.

awesers!

Now if I could just get over this bout of nausea I've had for the past 2 days so I can thoroughly enjoy kitten time!

1 Year!
