Jared and I have been watching the Die Hard movies lately (his idea). They're actually not bad movies, just bad wardrobe, hair, etc.
We are halfway through the second one last night when I realized something.
Bruce Willis is hot. Even with the bad hair, Bruce Willis is hot.
I have heard before people talking about Bruce Willis as being a "hunk" and I never got it, til last night.
But then again, there are a lot of men like that. I never thought Sylvester Stallone was hot until I saw the original Rocky movies. I mean, he had some gorgeous eyes.
I'm sure my children will wonder what the hell I see in Johnny Depp (but then I'll make them watch Chocolat and Don Juan Demarco and they'll understand).
Same thing happens with music, obviously. My mother has always made us listen to "Golden Oldies" from the 60's and 70's in the car when we were growing up. I always thought the music was slightly lame (not ALL of it, but some).
I can already tell that I'm going to HATE what my kids listen to. I don't care much for most of the new rock music that comes out these days. Give me a radio station that plays all music from the 1990's and I'll be so very happy.
I won't even go into the generation gap in clothes. Ha.
What generation gaps are prevalent to you?

There is a gap between Jon and I sometimes...particularly when we're listening to music and watching TV...so many reruns I loved because I watched them growing up that he would NEVER watch with me-Fresh Prince, Full House, etc.
I like some of the rap music my son listens to but most of it gets on my nerves especially when he blasts it while he's driving. Together we both like the Chili Peppers and 3 Doors Down.
That's hilarious because I am in the process of trying to get Molly to watch all the Die Hard movies, as well as all the Indiana Jones and Rambo movies.
Answer me this, how can you like Star Wars and Harrison Ford and not be interested in watching Indiana Jones? It's so annoying!
Seriously though, Die Hard and Die Hard 3 are totally awesome, definitely some of the greatest action movies ever made, Die Hard 2 is ok, but not spectacular. I haven't seen the new one.
Not liking your kids music is not necessarily fact. I enjoy Jack Johnson, Brand New, Blink 183, Cake, The Killers only because my youngest and I listen to it together. She introduces me to the music then explains why it speaks to her. I get it and then come to appreciate it the same way she does. In return, I've introduced her to my 80's genre of The Pretenders, The Kinks, The Talking Heads, The Ramones, and she in turn is open about my musical taste. It is how we transcend the generations. Wow. That is my dissertation for the evening:)
And, Bruce Willis was never hot, just a bad ass in the Die Hard movies and a smart ass in "Moonlighting," against actress Cybill Shepherd.
OK. I will shut up now.
Marie: It's good to hear these things because I swear if my kids don't appreciate Beck and the Avett Brothers the way I do, there's going to be an issue :)
