bye, bye, Single Corey Lynch

Corey to-the-Lynch, my favorite Appalachian Football Player, got married today to Cissie Graham, granddaughter of Billie Graham and daughter of Franklin Graham. I bet they'll have a long, happy marriage and have beautiful children and live in a nice house and do wonderful things for their community.

*sigh*

At least I can say I knew him when.. I mean.. we ARE facebook friends after all. So what if he adds anybody who asks..

And I'm still going to try to convince Jared to name our son after him.

Well, I did almost everything on my To-Do List. I did not clean my car and wash it, what with the rain and all. And I didn't win my fantasy football championship. But hey, I did everything else.

Sweeney Todd was an excellent movie. The little boy in it is SO good. And of couse Johnny had me reeling.

No Place For Old Men is also an excellent movie. Very Very good. Oscar good. I certainly hope the guy who plays the killer wins some kind of award for it.

Today they are at my house installing a new, HD dish. YAY! Now I can watch HIDEF Johnny.

Plans for New Years: Leave work at 3 to go to the doctor, then go home and play poker til around 10 pm, then watch HIDEF ball dropping. yippee!

New Years Resolution: Cook More, Maintain Diet, Be Happy and Be Myself.
See you next year!

so.. uh.. HI!!

Sorry for the absense of blogging lately. I find it much easier to blog when I'm at work rather than at home.

How was your Christmas vacation? Mine was pretty awesome.

Friday was the Whoopdecog (my officeish) annual Christmas party. I went home with a bottle of Cabernet (which I don't drink). It was over at 2:30 PM so I went home to take a nap before having to be at the Brush for work at 5:30. But after a small nap I started to feel bad. Then I started to feel worse. At 5 I went in the bathroom and threw up! I was freaking out but I went to work anyways. By 7 pm I had thrown up 2 more times at the Brush so I had to leave. I was working at a restaurant. Bartending on the Friday night before Christmas. This is one of the best nights of the year to make money. But I had to leave. Boo.

I felt better by the next day (except for being tired) and therefore it must have just been a 24 hour bug.

Sunday night was Christmas at Mom's. Then Monday night (Christmas Eve) I worked until 11 and then we went to Jared's parent's house and stayed through Christmas. It was pretty great. Jared got me lots of lovely things and his parents did too. Then we drove to my Dad's yesterday (stopping in Boone for some Mellow Mushroom on the way) and finally got home last night around 10:00. We were tired, and our baby kitties missed us, but we had a great mini-cation for Christmas.

I've had such a great year!

Now... Onto 2008 already! Sheesh!

Blarhgle

Bah Humbug I have a headache. But I'm really okay with it.. I'm still having a good Christmas so far. I finally have all of shopping done, except for one thing and I know exactly what I'm getting and where to get it. Yay me! I got Jared a really great present, and if you want to know what it is, email me.

Last night I stayed up way too late, which is my head hurts. It was one of those nights where it didn't matter that it was late, we needed beer. I worked at my office all day yesterday, then rushed to work at the Brush and ran around all night like a chicken with my head cut off. Then, when I clocked out I had to make a trip to Wal-Mart, a.k.a. Hell to find something to put a rum cake in.

Wal-Mart plus Christmas Time = HELL.

Anywho. I miss Carmen. You should be around this weekend and hang out with me :)

Seen on AppFan Blog.

Here is where I got this awesome picture! I want to blow it up poster size and put it on my wall at work.

Un-Fun.

So a few weeks ago Jared and I sat down with the cats and Carmen took a picture of us for me to include in my Christmas cards. Then, 2 weeks ago I ordered prints of it from Wal-Mart.com. I ordered them sent to my house. It's cheaper that way. So then they were supposed to come last week. The email said they would come between the 11th and the 14th. They have STILL not arrived.

The shipping method they use is called UPS innovations. UPS packages and trucks the package, then it gets handed over to the Post Office for delivery to me. I used the track my package thing on UPS site and it says that the package arrived at the Hickory Post Office on the 11th. So I called the Hickory Post Office yesterday and they do not have my package. They said they needed a USPS tracking number in order to find my package. The UPS website doesn't give me a Post Office tracking number, just a UPS tracking number. So I emailed (because that's the only ANNOYING way you can contact UPS customer service) UPS and am waiting on a response.

If the pics don't come today, I'm going to have to send my cards out with no picture.

Without a picture, they're so bland!

Anywho. Here's the picture for you to enjoy, but only online.
This was Supposed to be my Christmas Card.

My Guys.

ASU's win was so big it's knocked me out of full-consciousness for a few days. And I didn't even get drunk! The lack of sleep mixed with the death-defying drive home made me all exhausted, but I'm semi-better now, except for that whole cold I think I'm coming down with.

The game was a blast. We won by so much that we didn't have to stay on the edge of our seats the whole time. Not that that is a bad thing. But sometimes you just want to have a total blowout.

Only problem is, now it's going to be a LONG time before I get to see good old Kidd Brewer Stadium again.
And also: No more Corey Lynch. No more Kevin Richardson. No more Nic Cardwell or Julian Rauch. No more Dexter Jackson or Hans Batichon. No more Jerome Touchstone or Justin Woazeah. No more Cam Speer. No more seniors. I have faith that the youngun's will keep us going though. Armanti and Devon Moore are there and they are Bad. As in Good Bad.

Only 8 1/2 more months until the next season.. Now.. when's that ring ceremony?????

Here are my pics:
Me and Stephen ate at PF Changs for lunch on the way. It was PF yummy:

We saw lots and lots of ASU cars:
Yippee

We had to walk through the ghetto to get to the stadium:

During tailgating, I ran into a lot of friends, including
Marie:

My boss and his family:

Joan and her younguns:

And Rob the App Guy. We had a little Bloggy meeting type thing:
Rob, Joan, Katie, and me, App bloggers.

And of course Katie and Daniel and Jeff and Tracy and Chad were there too!
Chad passed out. Before the game. Before sunset.

We talked to a Delaware fan who was seriously deluded as to the good ness of his team. Tracy had to tell him what's up:

The game was awesome and of course, we kicked some butt:

Afterwards, Katie told those Blue Hens to leave:

We rushed the field and there were pretty fireworks:

PeeWee Herman

Yay! One of my favorite shows as a child, PeeWee's Playhouse, is going to be coming to the big screen finally! Not anytime soon, but Paul Ruebens definitely wants to make it. This is awesome. And you know who he wants to direct it? Tim Burton. And you know who he said he would want to play PeeWee if he didn't get to do it? Johnny Depp. Awesome.

Read the article Here.

Beefwad.

I'm so glad I have my kitties to keep me entertained.
Beefcake is tasty.
"that beefcake, he's such a t-rex"

I also have Jared. And Carmen. And Katie. And Trivia.
Monday night, Jared finally got to join me for Trivia at McGuire's. We sucked bad. There was a whole round of questions that were the first line of books and we had to name the book. I ended up knowing approximately ZERO of the answers. So I drew a big perveted drawing on the trivia card and handed it in. At least it made Carmen laugh. After I heard the answers, I had only even read one of the books. I had only heard of about five (out of ten) of the books. I don't see that there's anything wrong with that though. I read. Just not those books.

Anywho, everyone there did so badly at that round that she promised to never do that again. hehehe.

Tommorrow, the big huge giant mega awesome National Championship Game! GO APPS!!!!

And on Saturday I can change my ringtone back to something besides the fight song.

Football

Man, have I got a lot going on lately. I'm so excited to be going to a football game! Friday night my team, the Appalachian Mountaineers, are playing in the National Championship against Delaware, in Chattanooga Tennesee. I'm one of the fortunate people who have a ticket, but I'm still looking for one more for my friend Stephen, who is supposed to ride with me.

Last night I went over to Katie's house where we made signs. Here are my two:
My Sign for the Game!
(The other team's mascot is the Blue Hens, and Armanti is our Quarterback)
and
My funny Sign for the game!
(Corey Lynch is the one who blocked the field goal vs. Michigan)

I have been super busy at work lately, which is awsome. I'm happy about it. I have barely been in my office at all though, it's mostly other towns that need me.

Like Joan, I am really getting into Christmas this year. Sunday I'm going to get all of my shopping done (I hope!!). I have a really awesome present for Jared (and another really awesome idea) but it all depends on Brad coming through for me!

I went to this Christmas party at McGuire's (a pub in Hickory) on Sunday with Carmen and Jon, and I left with an awesome dirty Santa present, a bottle of Amaretto with 2 shotglasses! Yay!

Now, if only I could stop eating so much CRAP!

Star Wars

At least I'm not THIS BIG of a Star Wars Nerd.

impulse buy

Now in my living room:

Okay, maybe it wasn't really an impulse buy. I mean, we had talked about it for a while, and last night we finally just decided to go out and get one. EEK!

Now we're just hoping that Beefcake won't knock it over!

Top Ten Reasons Why Saturday Rocked.

I had a fantastic time at yesterday's game! My team, the Appalachian Mountaineers, won in their second round of playoffs versus Eastern Washington! yay! I love football.

Reasons why yesterday was so great:

1: I didn't fall down and hurt myself (although I did get a little sunburned, but not enough to count)

2: We came up with a new nickname for Armanti Edwards after some sneaky passes he made, "Magic Fingers" Edwards

3: Devon Moore. Where did this kid come from? He is awesome. Although for some reason I have to call him DeVON Moore. It's supposed to be pronounced just like Kevin, except with a "D".

4: We saw Marie from BlueRidgeBlog again (link on my sidebar). We didn't get to talk to her because she was hard at work, but she was kind enough to take a great picture of Katie and me.

5: Katie and I discovered it's good luck to crouch down when there is about to be a critical play and our defense has the ball. For the second week in a row, it caused the other team to fumble. We are good.

6: I got to eat at Mellow Mushroom!

7: I had a good hair day

8: Corey Lynch! Corey Lynch! Caught another amazing game-changing interception!

9: I got to eat some of Katie's fantastic, out-of-this-world sausage balls.

10: 38-35. Need I say more?

Here are all of my pics.
Here are all of Katie's pics.

Collection 30: Jared Stuff.

You know what rules? I don't have to blog about a collection tomorrow. I really started out this month with high blog energy and hopes that this would make me love blogging more. I still love blogging, but I really wish I had not felt forced into blogging every day. I know no one told me to sign up for NaBloPoMo. I know I could have just blogged about whatever I wanted and not worried about it. Overall I'm glad I did it, but I'm tired of blogging about collections.

Tomorrow I'm going to the Appalachian Football playoff game against E. Washington University. And then I'm going to Mom's on Sunday to go through Christmas stuff and pick out stuff I want to take home with me. For the first time in years, I'm really into Christmas this year. Maybe it's the fact that with Jared living with me, I really feel like I'm going to have a family at home for Christmas. I need to decorate more, so it's a good thing my mommy is giving me stuff!

On to my last collection. By the way I have a few more I thought of too, but I won't go into that.

Here we have my Jared collection. When we started dating and I realized it could last a while, I kept mementos of our dates and stuff. I still do, but obviously not as much since he lives with me. I have movie tickets, baseball game tickets, concert tickets, mini golf cards, the birthday and love cards, a beercap from the first time I saw him throw up, a necklace from an arcade in Pigeon Forge, and a whole lot of sweet little notes from Jared.

Collection 29: Posters

When I was a college student, I did the normal college student thing, and hung posters on my walls. I did this in High School and Middle School too, but I don't have pictures of those.

Most of my posters were comprised of attractive men and music I liked. Well, mostly just Johnny Depp.

I still have a lot of my posters, but alas I don't hang them up anymore. I would need to frame them, so I can be an adult. But I'm too poor for all that now. So I just keep them in storage. I have more than the ones here, too, but no pictures.

Click Johnny below to see the slideshow.
p.s. if you click the big "I" in the middle, it shows you the description of each.

Collection #28: Maps

Yes, maps. As a person holding a degree in Geography, I'm apparently expected to know where everything on the planet is. Unfortunately, I do not. In fact, I suck the worst at Jeopardy when the category is Geography. I only took 2 regional geography classes in college and they were North Carolina Geography and Latin American Geography. I can tell you most of the capital cities in South America, but I can't tell you where the hell Korea is.

This is why I collect maps. And atlases. They are always fun to look at, especially if they are old. I LOVE antique maps. Too bad I don't have any. Those suckers can get uberexpensive. (Look at the price HERE if you don't believe me) So I just stick to my National Geographic Maps. I have a lot. I keep them in my map table with map drawers, that my Mom gave me for Christmas last year. Like so:

lots and lots of maps

When I was in college, I wallpapered my living room with maps. They were cool.
I wish I had a picture to show you of this, but I do not. At least not on Flickr.

Here is the map hanging up in my spare bedroom:
The U.S. of A

I need to hang up more, but I'm too lazy.

Collection 27: App Stuff

As a proud alumna of Appalachian State University, and a hardcore Mountaineer Football fan, I collect stuff that reflects my favorite University. I have a lot of shirts, sweatshirts, and pictures. I have a blog that's black & gold (our colors) and I have even more:

Take for instance my ASU license plate:

And my Wall O' Mountaineers at work:

And then there's all the stuff I keep hanging around in my car:

I also have a keyboard, a small steel drum, a few other small musical instruments. I've always been into music and at one time I planned on being a band director. Then that fell through.. I need to practice more.

Johnny Depp DVD's

We have a lot. And we have much more than that too, scattered in various places around the house.

And another obvious collection that a lot of people have, boardgames. I have a few. And I really want more. Like Apples to Apples. Or Scene it.

board games

Yay!

For those of you who were wondering what the hell I did to my face, let's just say I learned a very important lesson about drinking, walking, and talking on the phone.

Ouchie

Wanna know why I didn't blog yesterday? And why I'm not going to blog about a collection today?

Here's why:

Tailgating. It's only one of 2 reasons I cried yesterday. The other would be when AppState won by fumble. Yippee! I love those guys.

Collection 23: Freckles

I haven't run out of ideas.. just run out of good ideas.

I collect freckles. Well, really, my body collects freckles. I used to think I could count them, but then I realized they come and go quicker than I could possibly count them. Why do I have freckles in my legs, which are rarely ever exposed to sunlight? Doesn't make sense.

Collection 22: Mullet Pictures

As a Thanksgiving Treat for you, I present, Mullets. Mullets are the coolest hair style ever. I love taking pictures of them if I can. It's risky, but it's a thrill. It's my extreme sport.

Here's the best one I've got a picture of:

Collection 21: Star Stuff

I've always been a big fan of anything to do with stars. I love the shape, and I also love astronomy, even though I'm no good at it. When I was 19, I decided to get a tattoo and what I decided on was a star:
my tattoo because i'm bored.

Then that's when everybody decided to start buying me star stuff. I'm perfectly okay with this. I have a really pretty star mobile (which is sadly not hung up right now). I have tons of little star knickknacks. My apartment in college had several of those bags of neon stars hung up on my bedroom ceiling. Stars are just pretty and they always will be.

A few examples:
Star picture frame, cube thinggy

candles and box

My favorite necklace:
necklace
(cubic zirconia :)

Yep.
